Introduction:
History has given us a lot in terms of society development. Some are hard to
swallow and some are easy to see. Therefore, the possibility of constructing a
better future lies on understanding the past in order to modify and live our present
towards the recognition of historical events and remarkable people along with their
wisdom and their social contexts. For this part of the project, we will discuss the
why history matters through the elaboration of an expository text: THE ARTICLE.

Standards:

 Reading: Delineates and evaluates the argument and specific claims in


different mediums, assessing whether the reasoning is valid, and the
evidence is relevant and sufficient; identifies false statements and fallacious
reasoning.

Objectives: 

 Develop expertise on a topic of interest through experience and research to


support background knowledge on a topic (Importance of History). 
 Be more proficient in providing evidence for their claim and unpacking the
relationship between the claim and the evidence (APA: citation
and references) 
 Learning from others' experiences and knowledge through the elaboration of
an expository text (The Article). 

This guide has been created in order to provide students elements for the
comprehension of the article read in class. The reading will be analyzed taking into
account concepts such as Macro structure and micro structure. Moreover, from
that understanding, students will be able to extract information to create their TOK
questions.
