REFLECTION #3

The third group discussed performance and affective assessment,


as our subject teacher reminded us that there is always a purpose in every
assessment, which gave me the idea that assessment is very important because
as a teacher, you must be knowledgeable in giving tasks, activities, or different
measurement tools to assess the student. When it comes to performance
assessment, we can evaluate the student performance that we anticipated to
achieve what competence, therefore by this evaluation, we can measure or
assess if the student meets the expected learning outcomes, which are either
psychomotor skills or process skills. This type of assessment can help students
improve their performance because it benefits both the teacher and the student.
The student can identify his or her strengths and weaknesses or what he or she
needs to do to improve performance, while the teacher can identify which of her
or his students needs to improve so that the teacher can implement an
improvement.

On the other hand, affective assessment may assist within the


classroom to be interactive where all of the students' sentiments, perceptions, or
enlighten them that everyone everything is valuable that also helps the teachers
to recognize the value of all of the students. This type of assessment can eliminate
some factors that may cause the student to lose interest in learning. As the quote
goes, "motivation and desire represent the very foundation of learning." This is why
teachers must consider the student's perception to meet the assessment
objectives. If the student doesn't want to learn and feels unsafe inside the
classroom, there will be no learning.

To summarize, both performance and emotional evaluation must be


used successfully to achieve your assessment's purpose or objectives. As a future
educator, you must prioritize your student. To be an effective teacher, you must
understand your student's learning style. If you can identify your student's strengths
and weaknesses, you may apply your teaching tactics and perhaps meet your
assessment purpose.
