How about making Japanese bento ?

Japanese bento typically consists of a main dish and


a couple of side dishes.

In this E-book, we will show you 5 basic main dishes


and 2 side dishes that are very popular and super
easy to cook.(All recipes here are for two persons)

You will be surprised how easy to cook Japanese

How to prepare thinly sliced pork 


Thinly sliced meat is often used in Japanese recipes.
In this book, we use thinly sliced pork to cook ginger pork
bento.If you can't find thinly sliced meat at a grocery store
nearby, here is how to prepare thinly sliced meat.

Put a block of meat in a freezer and freeze for around 2 hours.


Make sure the meat is soft enough to cut, if you freeze it too
long, it will be too hard to cut.
Cut the meat with a sharp knife.

Packing bento
Don’t pack the bento box before the ingredients have cooled
down, otherwise the bento can easily become bad because of
the moisture from the steam.

Chicken

【Ingredients】
250g chicken thigh
Potato starch adequate amount
Salt and pepper

◆Seasoning
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sake
1 tbsp mirin
2 tbsp water
【Instructions】
Lightly season the chicken with salt and pepper.Then coat
with potato starch.
Heat 1 tsp oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place
the chicken in the pan. Cook the chicken until browned.

While cooking the chicken, put all the seasoning together in a


bowl and mix well.

Turn the heat to low and pour the the mixed seasoning over
the chicken and toss well to mix.*Shut off the heat as soon
as the seasoning and chicken are mixed.
 Salmon Teriyaki Bento
Salmon Teriyaki Bento

【Ingredients】
2 fillets salmon
Black sesame to sprinkle
Potato starch adequate amount
Salt and pepper

◆Seasoning
2 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp sake
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp water

【Instructions】
Lightly season the salmon with salt and pepper and then
coat with potato starch.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place
the salmon fillet into the pan and cook until the bottom
side is browned and flip and cook the other side.

Combine all the seasoning together.


Turn the heat to low and add the seasoning to the pan and
mix with the salmon.*Shut off the heat as soon as the
seasoning and Salmon are mixed.Be careful not to burn the
sauce.

Sprinkle the black sesame on top of the salmon.


Pork

【Ingredients】
300g thinly sliced pork
1 onion
30g ginger
◆Seasoning
1 tbsp sake
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp mirin
Salt and pepper to taste

【Instructions】
Grate ginger.
Cut onion into half, grate the half and cut the other half into
slices.
Season the pork with salt and pepper.
Heat oil on medium heat in a non-stick pan and place the
pork in a single layer.

Flip the meat when the bottom side is golden brown.


Put the sliced onion into the pan and cook over a medium
to low heat.

When the sliced onion is cooked, add the grated onion ,


sake and soy sauce.
Then add ginger and mirin. Season with salt pepper.
Karaage Bento

【Ingredients】
250g Chicken thigh
80g potato starch
Vegetable oil for deep fry

◆Seasoning
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp sake
1 tsp sesame oil

【Instructions】
Cut the chicken into bite size pieces.
Combine the chicken with the seasoning in a bowl until
evenly coated .

Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Take the marinated chicken out from the fridge and coate
with potato starch.

Heat oil in a pot over high heat about 170℃(340°F) and fry
until golden brown.(Alternatively you can use an air fryer to fry
without oil)
Chicken Nanban Bento
Chicken NanBan Bento

【Ingredients】
250g chicken thigh
Salt pepper to taste
1/3 cup potato starch
Oil for deep fry

◆Nanban Sauce
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sugar
Combine these together
◆Tartar sauce
1 boiled egg chopped
20g onion finely chopped
1 Tbsp mayonnaise
Combine these together
【Instructions】
Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and season with salt and
pepper.

Coat the meat with potato starch .

Heat the vegetable oil to about 170°C (340 °F)and deep fry until
golden brown.

Soak the deep fried chicken into the nanban sauce and serve
it with the tartar sauce over it.
Pumpkin Salad
Pumpkin Salad

【Ingredients】
1/5 pumpkin
2tbsp yogurt

◆Seasoning
2 tsp mayonnaise
Sugar to taste

【Instructions】
Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces.
Place the pumpkin into a pot with water and boil until tender.
Add sugar to taste and mash with a fork. Let it cool down.
Add mayonnaise and yogurt.
Potato

【Ingredients】
5 Potatoes
Mixed vegetables (frozen)
2 slices of ham
◆Seasoning
2 tbsp mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

【Instructions】
Put the potatoes in a pot and add water until it covers all the
potatoes
Boil potatoes with high heat. Lower heat to medium
after water boils and cook until a skewer can go
through the potato easily.
Peel the potatos
Boil mixed vegetables.
Cut the ham into small pieces.
Mash the potatoes.

Combine mashed potatoes, mixed vegetable and ham in a bowl


Add mayonnaise and sprinkle with salt and pepper
