Life and Importance of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)

BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD

 Born 12th Rabi ul awwal 570 AD.


 Father died before birth.
 Mother named him Ahmed.
 grandfather Abdul Muttalib named him Muhammad.
 Custom of Arabia children were raised in outskirts.
 Muhammad(S) brought up by Halima Saadia, tribe of Banu Sa’ad.
 He brought great blessings to the family of Halima.
 He stayed there for 5 years.
 He took pride in his dialect.
 “Verily I am the most perfect Arab amongst you; my descent is from Quraish and my tongue is
the tongue of the Banu Sa’ad.”
 After 2 years Muhammad(S) was brought back by mother.
 There was epidemic so sent back.
 When he was 5 angel Jibrael came with another angel.
 Opened his chest.
 Washed his heart with Zamzam.
 Halima got scared by this event and sent him back.
 When he was 6 his mother took to medina.
 Meet relatives and grave of father.
 Mother died on way back(Abwa).
 Buried there.
 Umm Aimen slave brought him to his grandfather.
 He died when Muhammad(S) was 8.
 He was entrusted to Abu Talib.
 Very kind to Muhammad(S).
 “Did he not find you an orphan and give you shelter (and care).”
 He became shepherd at young age.

SYRIA

 Abu Talib took Muhammad(S) to Syria.


 Christian monk saw signs of prophethood in him on outskirts of Syria.
 Told Abu Talib not to take him further into Syria as people would kill him.

HARB UL FIJAR

 580-590
 Sacrilegious war between Quraish and Hawazin tribes.
 War was forbidden in the months it started.
 Muhammad(S) was only 15.

 He did not actively participate.


 He only picked up arrows and gave them to his uncles.

HALF AL FADUL

 Injustice, severe damage from war.


 tribes formed union.
 protect rights of people oppressed in war.
 They assembled in the house of Abdullah ibn Jaddan.
 They agreed that that people in Makkah and outside Makkah will help people being oppressed.
 It was named after its leading members.
 Muhammad(S) was one of the people who attended that meeting.
 ” I was present in the house of Abdullah bin Judan at so excellent a pact that I would not
exchange my part in it for a herd of red camels; and if now in Islam. I were summoned unto it, I
would gladly respond’’

MARRIAGE TO KHADIJAH(RA)

 Khadijah(RA) heard about the honesty of Muhammad(RA).


 She needed someone to take her merchandise to Syria.
 She sent a slave Maysera along with Muhammad(S).
 She earned double the prophet.
 Maysera always talked about the honesty of Muhammad(S).
 She was so impressed she went and asked Abu Talib if she could marry him.
 He accepted on behalf of Muhammad(S).

FIXING OF THE BLACK STONE

 The Kabbah was situated in a low part of the Faran valley.


 It was destroyed in a flood.
 It was rebuilt.
 When it was fully rebuilt the tribes had a quarrel on who would place the black stone in place.
 It was decided that the first person to come to the Kabbah next morning would choose what
happens.
 Muhammad(S) was the first person.
 He made all the tribe leaders put the stone on a cloth, each hold one corner of the cloth.
 Present the cloth to him and he would put the stone in himself.
 Everyone was satisfied with this decision.

CALL TO PROHETHOOD

 With age Muhammad(S) thought who the real god was.


 He spent much time in solitude.

 When he turned 40 he was almost always meditating in the cave of Hira.


 One day suddenly angel Jibrael showed up.
 Asked him to read, he replied I cannot read.
 Angel Jibrael embraced him tightly and again asked to read, his reply did not change.
 This happened 3 times.
 Prophet(S) read in fear of dying if he was embraced any tighter.
 These were the first verses of the surah Alaq.
 The prophet(S) was shaken by this experience.
 Ran out of cave.
 But anywhere he looked he saw Angel Jibrael(AS) saying: ”O Muhammad(S), you are the
messenger of Allah and I am Jibrael.”
 The Prophet(S), when the vision faded, ran home and told Hazrat Khadija(RA) everything.
 She consoled the prophet(S)
 Took to Warqa bin Naufal.
 After questioning the Prophet(S) a little he confirmed that Muhammad(S) was the last prophet
of Allah.
