1.A.1. Helicopters/installed equipment or parts

Helicopters PRE-MOD 365P084788.00.

NOTE

Refer to the aircraft individual inspection record (RIC AMS)

to identify the actual modification status of the helicopter.

1.C. REASON

Revision 0:

When returning from a mission, the pilot of an AS365 N helicopter heard a noise outside, coming from his
right. The pilot observed no change in the helicopter’s behavior; the pilot continued his mission.
On the ground, the pilot observed the loss of motor cowlings, MGB fixed and removable cowlings, as well as
impacts on a blade and the horizontal stabilizer leading edge.
Tearing of the attachment brackets (fixed parts) of the MGB cowlings was also observed.

Investigations have shown that the rupture of the cowling attachment was linked to an assembly under stress
of the cowling on its support causing a fatigue rupture of the bracket.

Consequently, Airbus Helicopters has defined the modification 365P084788.00 to improve the MGB fixed
cowling attachment.

This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN consists in modifying the primary attachment system of the Main Gear
Box (MGB) fixed cowling and adding a second one to provide redundancy for the locking.

This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN supersedes compliances with the ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN 53.00.55.

Revision 1:

The purpose of revision 1 is to provide details of the procedure, following initial compliance by customers.
Revision 1 does not affect compliance with revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN.
