EDUCATIONAL TOURISM

LOCAL STUDIES

When the crisis of pandemic hit, a drop in the number of tourism students

enrolling in school was very worrying, not just for the education sector but also for the

tourism industry itself. Education is the key to getting the skills and knowledge that will

help a person adapt easily to an industry that is always changing. In line with this, the

crisis of COVID-19 is having a big change and impact on tourism education, which is a

skill-based specialization. In a study done by Gamoso et al., (2021) in determining

factors in the motivation of tourism students amid the pandemic crisis, when it comes to

their social lives, the students are very happy with the relationships they've made. When

it comes to teaching presence, however, the respondents are happy with the experience

as a whole. Lastly, cognitive presence shows that students are happy with their

education because they have gained knowledge and will continue to learn throughout

their lives. There was a strong link between the things that made students want to keep

learning about tourism and their educational experience.

In a study done by Suarez et al. (2017) in assessing the effectiveness of

educational tours to CITHM students of Lyceum of the Philippines in Batangas City, it

was discovered that students choose to go on educational trips because they want to

have fun and make good memories with their classmates and friends. The tours are

most effective when they get people to take charge of their own learning after they have

been on the tours. Although the money was the biggest problem that came up during
the tours, it was suggested that the tour organizers make the price of the package less,

but still make sure that the students will learn something new. Other schools also might

take students on international trips so they can learn about other places and cultures, as

well as holding seminars for parents in which it talks about what will be done on the

tour.
