    Computer Crime

    Computer crime is a type of cyber-crime involves computer resources including hardware software,
    network etc. it contain crime against society, organization, property. Three major computer crimes are
    Denial of service attack, Distribution of pirated software and Malware attack.

    Denial of service attack affects functioning of a website by sending multiple requests and flooding a
    website with traffic which is beyond to handle by server. In recent few days, “Red Server” domain is
    flooded with spamming traffic on its webmail servers.

    Distribution of pirated software affects the crack version software user .these cracked version
    software often contains some malicious scripts (malware/virus) in them. That results in disguise stealing
    of confidential data from user computer. More over these pirated software copies makes huge
    economic loses to developer as well as great loss to government tax collection. In 2012, IOS game Battle
    dungeon forced to shut down due to piracy as they are getting huge load on server due to pirated
    copies.

    Malware is group of cyber threats contains adware, ransom ware, Botnets, Trojan, Virus, Worms,
    Spywares etc. In last month Google Chrome browser was exploited against its extension vulnerabilities.
    Users who install theses extension were at the risk of data theft.

    These crimes performed for some economic benefits. The losses to the organizations are quantified in
    terms of money, resources and reputation of organization impacted by these crimes.

    Example1: Cryptopia crypto theft case: in January 15, 2019 Cryptopia faced security breach. The
    amount of currency stolen was analyzed by a firm through cyber forensic and data analysis on partially
    recovered server data. It was estimated $16.18M.
