Revision Feature:

In ACCOMPLISH INSTRUCTIONS, Section A., page 7, step (16), Replacement of Immersion


Sensor at station 211.00 (Mod. Kit 92070-25001-013) revised to include an operational check
of the sensor per applicable Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM). Step was previously step (12).

In ACCOMPLISH INSTRUCTIONS, Section B., page 8, step (13), Replacement of Immersion


Sensors at station 425.00 (Mod. Kits 92070-25001-011 and -012) revised to include an
operational check of the left and right side sensor per applicable Rotorcraft Flight Manual
(RFM). Step was previously step (9).

1. PLANNING INFORMATION

A. Purpose

This notice provides instructions for the replacement of the immersion sensor through the
rotary pool program.

B. Effectivity

Model: All S92-A model helicopters S/N 920006 through 920021

C. Description

The helicopter is prepared for maintenance. The 92250-12803-101 immersion sensor(s) is/
are removed and a new 92250-12803-102 immersion sensor with an improved moisture
resistant seal is installed. An operational check is performed, and the helicopter is returned
to service.

Sikorsky Aircraft considers this design change to be a Major Alteration as defined by the
Federal Aviation Regulation, Part 43, Appendix A.

D. Compliance

The work outlined herein is to be done at the discretion of the operator.

E. Approval

The design change effected by this document is FAA approved in accordance with
applicable requirements of Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) regulation FAR 29.

(3) MS27039C1-10 is an alternate screw for SS5300C1-10 screw

cost. Immersion Sensors will be provided on a rotary pool basis. Submit a purchase
order referencing the Customer Service Notice number and helicopter serial numbers
upon which these parts will be used. This will allow HSI and the operator to track
shipment and receipt of parts. Orders will be accepted by letter, telephone, facsimile

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A. Replacement of Immersion Sensor at station 211.00 (Mod. Kit 92070-25001-013)

NOTE: • Aircraft serial numbers 920017 and 920019 require immersion sensor
replacement at station 211.00 only.
• Slight variations to this instruction herein are allowed, as long as the intent of
this modification is accomplished.

(1) Prepare helicopter for maintenance.

(2) Turn off all electrical and hydraulic power to helicopter.

(3) Remove applicable equipment/furnishings and kick plate at station 221.00 left buttline
left buttline 14.30 to gain access to immersion sensor per applicable maintenance
manual.

(4) Disconnect connector from immersion sensor cable to immersion sensor (Figure 1,
location A).

(5) Examine, clean and treat electrical connectors for corrosion with corrosion preventive
compound (MIL-C-81309 or equivalent) and place protective cap (NAS847) over end
of connector.

(6) Remove screws (SS5300C1-10) and washers (NAS1149C0332R) securing sensor


(92250-12083-101) to structure.

(7) Remove sensor (92250-12083-101) from helicopter and return to H.S.I. for upgrade to
92250-12083-102.

(8) Prepare for installation of new sensor (92250-12083-102) as follows:

(a) Clean mating surfaces of removed immersion sensor area and bulkhead with
clean, nonwoven cleaning cloth (CCC-C-46) and degreasing solvent (MIL-PRF-680
or equivalent).

(b) Dry surfaces with clean, dry nonwoven cloth before solvent evaporates.

(9) Install immersion sensor (92250-12083-102) at station 211.00 left buttline 14.30 wet
with primer (MIL-P-85582) using six screws (SS5300C1-10 or MS27039C1-10) and
six washers (NAS1149C0332R). Entirely coat all surfaces of washers.

(10) Tighten screws (SS5300C1-10 or MS27039C1-10) firmly so that there shall be no


relative movement between the attached parts.

(11) Perform bonding check between immersion sensor (point x) and airframe (point y)
using milliohm meter (R1L-E1 or equivalent). Resistance shall be 10 milliohms or
less.

NOTE: Failure of bonding check will require sensor to be removed and area to be
recleaned using step 8 (a) and (b).

(12) Apply primer (MIL-P-85582) to touch up screw heads (SS5300C1-10 or MS27039C1-


10).

(13) Apply a fillet of sealant (AMS 3265 or equivalent) around complete periphery of
sensor flange and overcoat nutplates at base of immersion sensor (92250-12083-
102).

NOTE: Make certain electrical connections have been cleaned and treated for
corrosion. If no corrosion protection is present, apply before connection is
made.

(14) Remove protective cap(s) (NAS847) from connectors and reconnect immersion sensor
cable to immersion sensor (92250-12083-102).

(15) Examine immersion sensor (92250-12083-102) for security and check surrounding
area for foreign objects and cleanliness.

(16) Perform an operational check of the sensor (92250-12083-102) using the IMRS/OFF/
INERTIA switch on the CVR/FDR test panel per applicable Roto Flight Manual
(RFM). Test procedure is located in Part 2, Section 1-Options in RFM001, -003,
-004, -005, and -006. It is located in Part 2, Chapter 18, Section 1-Options in
RFM002.

NOTE: After modification, 92600-01023-012 becomes 92070-25001-013

B. Replacement of Immersion Sensors at station 425.00 (Mod. Kits 92070-25001-011 and


012)

NOTE: • To gain access to immersion sensor(s) at station 425.00 right and left buttline
50.83, landing gear must be in the extended (down) position.
• Slight variations to this instruction herein are allowed, as long as the intent of
this modification is accomplished.

(1) Disconnect connector from immersion sensor cable to immersion sensor at station
425.00 right and left buttline 50.83 and station 220.00, left buttline 14.30 (Figure 1,
location A).

(2) Examine, clean and treat electrical connectors for corrosion with corrosion preventive
compound (MIL-C-81309 or equivalent) and place protective cap (NAS847) over end
of connector.

(3) Remove screws (SS5300C1-10) and washers (NAS1149C0332R) securing sensor


(92250-12083-101) to structure.

(4) Remove sensors (92250-12083-101) from helicopter and return to H.S.I. for upgrade
to 92250-12083-102.

(5) Prepare for installation of new sensor (92250-12083-102) as follows:

(a) Clean mating surfaces of removed immersion sensor area and bulkhead with
clean, nonwoven cleaning cloth (CCC-C-46) and degreasing solvent (MIL-PRF-680
or equivalent).

(b) Dry surfaces with clean, dry nonwoven cloth before solvent evaporates.

(6) Install immersion sensor (92250-12083-102) at station 425.00 right and left buttline
50.83 wet with primer (MIL-P-85582) using six washers (NAS1149C0332R) and six
screws (SS5300C1-10 or MS27039C1-10). Entirely coat all surfaces of washers.

(7) Tighten screws (SS5300C1-10 or MS27039C1-10) firmly so that there shall be no


relative movement between the attached parts.

(12) Examine immersion sensor (92250-12083-102) for security and check surrounding
area for foreign objects and cleanliness.

NOTE: After modification, 92250-25301-011 and -012 become 92070-25001-011 and


-012

(13) Perform an operational check of both sensors (92250-12083-102) using the flotation
system test procedure per applicable Rotocraft Flight Manual (RFM). Test procedure
is located in Part 2, Section 1-Options for all revisions except RFM002. In RFM002 it
is located in Part 2, Chapter 18, Section 1-Options.

(14) Return helicopter to service

C. Record of Compliance

(1) Make an appropriate logbook entry to show compliance with this Service Notice.

(2) Upon compliance with this Customer Service Notice, complete attached SERVICE
NOTICE COMPLIANCE RECORD and return it to Sikorsky Aircraft.
