Overview
This document provides the necessary information for installing the optional -48VDC Power
Supply Card (/DC card) into an Asentria SiteBoss 550, SiteBoss 530, TeleBoss 850, or
TeleBoss 830 product.
Safety precautions:
• The field technician must take precautions to ensure he/she is electrically grounded so
as not to damage the -48VDC Power Supply Card circuit board, or the main circuit
board of the unit. Follow normal Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures for handling
electronics per IPC-610.
• The -48VDC Power Supply Card should remain in its protective ESD bag until it is time
to actually install it in the unit.
1) Remove the unit case top and rear panel bay cover:
a. Disconnect power and any connections from the rear panel of the unit (note connections
to make reconnecting easier).
b. Remove the screws securing the case top and lift it from the unit.
c. Remove the three screws and Ground Lug that secure the rear panel bay cover (Fig 1)
and remove it.
Fig 1
a. Through the bay opening, connect the –48VDC Power Supply Card cable connector to
JP903 on main board (Fig 2). This connector is keyed, and has a latch.
Fig 2
b. Insert the –48VDC Power Supply Card into the bay, and guide the cable as you insert it
so it doesn?t bind on anything.
c. When inserting the Card, make sure the sheet metal tab on the end of the Card tray fits
into/under the lip on main unit case bottom. A felt pad is on the tab to reduce vibration and
secure a tight fit.
d. Secure the Card with the three screws and Ground Lug that were removed in 1c)
above.
e. Position the –48VDC Power Supply Card cable down so that it fits between the plastic
slot guide on the left and the –48V power option module board (Fig 3).
Fig 3
a. Place the case top on the unit (Note: the top cover fits on one way only, so be sure to
line up all screw holes first).
b. Secure the case top by installing the screws that were removed in 1b) above. Screws
should be torqued to 4.5 – 5.0 in/lbs.
Note: Once the -48VDC Power Supply Card is installed, the unit may be powered via either the
-48VDC card or the on-board 15VDC power jack.
