2 Safety Precautions
When installing the Room Presence system, follow the precautions and safety instructions in
this guide.
General Precautions
 When performing operations, obey local safety laws and regulations. The safety precautions
detailed in this guide are supplementary to local safety regulations.
 Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed install, replace, or maintain the Room
Presence system.
 Keep the device dry and avoid damaging it during storage, transportation, and operation.
 Do not attempt to dismantle the device by yourself. In case of any fault, contact the appointed
maintenance center for assistance or repair.
 Observe all applicable laws, directives, and regulations and respect the legal rights of others
when you use the device.
 Power on the display and check whether it can start up properly.
 The rack or display requires at least two people to lift or move it. Exercise caution when lifting
or moving it.
Electrical Safety
 AC power supply device installation must be done in accordance with the local safety
regulations. Only personnel qualified to perform high voltage AC operations are allowed to
install AC power supply devices.
 Do not wear any conductive items, such as metal watches, chains, bracelets, or rings during
operations.
 Isolate the power supply before installing or removing power cables.
 Before you connect the power cables, verify that their labels match those on the connectors to
which they to be connected.
 Use the correct, special-purpose tools to perform high voltage AC operations. Do not use
general purpose tools, or your own tools.
ESD
Before touching any of the devices or tools, ensure that you are wearing an ESD wrist strap and that
the strap's other end is properly grounded to prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging sensitive
components.
Sharp Edges
Wear safety gloves when moving and lifting the system to mitigate the risk of cutting your hands on
the system's sharp edges.
Signal Cable Bundling
Signal cables must be bundled separately from heavy-current or high-voltage cables. The minimum
distance between bundles is 150 mm.

NOTE
The items above are for reference only. It is recommended that you wear ESD clothing for
installing the RP G2.

5
5 Checking the Installation Environment
To ensure satisfying audio and video in conferences, check the installation environment before
starting the installation.
This section describes the requirements on power, network, illuminance, and noise. To learn
more, contact Huawei engineers.

NOTE
To obtain this guide, visit https://www.huawei.com/en/ and search for "HUAWEI RP Series
Room Telepresence Decoration Suite".

Power and Network

Power and network distribution:

 At least two power sockets (220 V/10 A or 110 V/10 A) on the wall behind the rack
 Two standard RJ45 network ports
 At least one power socket and one RJ45 network port on the other walls

Lighting

The lighting in an RP G2 conference room is measured by three factors: illuminance, color

temperature, and color rendering index (CRI).
 Illuminance
Indicates the total luminous flux on a surface, per unit area. It is a measure of how much
the light illuminates the surface. In an RP conference room, the illuminance on a
participant's face when the participant is seated facing the display is higher than 250 lux.
 Color temperature
A method of describing the color characteristics of light, usually either warm or cool. The
unit of color temperature is Kelvin (K). In an RP conference room, the color temperature of
a light source is supposed to be about 4000 K.
 CRI
A quantitative measure of the effect of a light source on the color appearance of objects in
comparison with a reference light source. The unit of CRI is R. In an RP conference room,
the CRI of a light source cannot be smaller than 82.

Noise

Before installing the RP G2, ensure that the following requirements are met:
 Background noise (all devices are turned off) ≤ 38 dB.
 Noise after the fresh air system is turned on ≤ 40 dB.
 Measures have been taken to soundproof places with poor acoustic installation, such as
doors, windows, or holes.

6 Unpacking the Box and Checking the Included Items

6.1 Checking the Box Before Unpacking It

You can unpack the box as long as it meets one or two items of the following requirements. If
any exception occurs, contact Huawei engineers for a replacement.

1 The box has been placed in the same area that the component is to be installed in.

2 The box's appearance is intact, without severe damage or soaking.

3 The box is not upside down. Here, the box of the display for the RP100 G2 is used as an
example. If the tiltwatch indicator turns red, the box was once tilted. Power on the display
before installing it. If the display is powered on, it works properly.
