The Instant Gratification is a term that to forego a benefit in the future in favor of a less rewarding but more immediate
benefit is known as instant gratification.Surrealist paintings on a large scale by Rodel Tapaya are filled with figures,
curio, and mythical creatures.Instant Gratification by Tapaya is loosely inspired by Jose Rizal's Si Pagong at Si
Matsing. The monkeys make their way through the ominous jungle setting, which also features a lotto machine and a slot
machine.Tapaya mentions the painting's connection to the title he gave it, noting that "tungkol siya sa mentality ng
Pilipino, parang gusto natin lahat mabilis."A man with the head of a monkey is depicted by Mr. Tapaya in a white suit
and black tie.Being a monkey, the monkey devours the bananas. He clearly longs for more.Mr. Tapaya has also paid
attention to folk tales and how they reflect our perceptions of the "urban labyrinth"—a tiny turtle on the ground that fades
to the side and is easy to miss because it looks at all the monkeys around it.Many of his larger acrylic paintings, "inspired
by Jose Rizal's story "Ang Pagong at ang Matsing" (Turtle and the Monkey), bring to life an imagined setting in which
faceless specters mix with clearly defined imagery. This is clear in his work The Market Chaos, where figures live in a
fair-like setting and face-detailed apparitions whisper to themselves. He refers to the painting as semi-abstract because it
begins with clear lines at the top and intentionally melts away at the bottom.Tapaya claims that in his depiction of the
bustle in a market, he allowed the paints to flow freely. This painting has a great deal of influence and plays a significant
role in society.
