DIFFERENT KINDS OF NEEDLES

1. Regular Bevel
-the most common tip type of needle, used for subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. It is
the sharpest point available for hypodermic needles.
HYPODERMIC NEEDLE- medical tools that go under the skin or enter the skin.
- commonly known as Sharps and quite skinny.
- It shapes are hollow tube-like and have sharp tips.
1. Intramuscular injection-  delivers medicine directly into the muscles.
2. Intradermal injection- used to deliver substance just beneath the dermis and preferably
used to test skin allergies.
3. Subcutaneous injection- used to inject medicine in the subcutaneous layer between skin
and muscles, for example, insulin in diabetes patients.
4. Intravenous injection- used to inject directly into the veins
2. Short Bevel tip
- used for specialty applications such as arterial blood gas sampling or nerve blocks. It allows
penetration of the skin and delivery of local anesthetic to the desired anatomical location.

3. Intradermal Bevel
offers low-angle insertions just below the epidermis means dermis skin layer and used method
for skin testing for allergies.
4. 5-Bevel
it is found to be less painful for patients and most preferable, more comfortable, easier to
insert, and less painful.
5. Blunt tips or Dispensing Needles
it is specially designed to help to reduce the risk of needle stick injury during medication
preparation like filling syringe from mediation vial or filling a syringe from an ampule. It is used
to inject medication into an IV line and also use to flush the IV line with saline solution but
never to be used for skin injection.
