ARTICLE ANALYSIS

Guide Questions:
1. What are the main points of this article?
2. Do you agree with all the claims of the study? Why? Why not?
3. How do you think can we improve the social mobility in our country?

-The main points of this article are the Philippines ranks 61st out of 82 countries in social
mobility, says the World Economic Forum’s inaugural Global Social Mobility report, the country
ranked in the bottom half of all countries according to study and the country was behind most of
its neighbors in Southeast Asia, WEF said that the low social mobility entrenches historical
inequalities and higher income inequalities fuel lower social mobility, the Philippines ranked 69th
overall in the health pillar, 56th overall in the education pillar, on the other side the country was
ranked quite high at 25th in the quality of vocational training.
-I agree with all the claims of the study, based on the fact that I live here in this country, I am
aware of this country’s problems. The Philippines struggles in work opportunities,
unemployment, education, fair wages and low wages, people who have access to technology,
health care services and agriculture.
-I think if we improve the country’s social mobility, it would be hard because people on the
government doesn’t know how to improve our country’s problems. Our land is full of corruption
and debt, people here are made to pay taxes to pay the debt of this country. The struggle of this
land can’t be solved if people in the government will not serve its people and not just to make
money for themselves. We, the citizens of this country must know how to choose the right
people who can help us in the long term, to make our country great again, right people who will
serve us and make our social mobility rank high, right people who will not go for the money of
this country but the will to serve its people.
