Definition Surface Tension

• Molecules in liquids show a relatively high mobility Liquid


• There are forces between the molecules = cohesive forces Gas

• The higher the cohesive forces, the higher the surface tension
Water: ~73 mN/m = high cohesive forces
Mineral spirit: 23 mN/m = low cohesive forces
