intended audiences.

What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea? Students should be able to use the
information they have learned from the educational video to create their own model and video
about the parts of a plant. Students should also be able to correctly use Adobe Express when
creating their individual video.

Selected Instructional Software Tool: Adobe Express

Description of Software: Adobe Express is an online tool that teachers and students can use to
enhance learning experiences for free. Adobe Express has education-specific privacy controls to keep
students safe while creating projects such as videos and graphics.

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will create their own model and video using Adobe Express to label the parts of a plant.
Before the activity students will learn about the parts of a plant and then learn how to make a video
using Adobe Express. Students will be expected to draw/create their own plant model with the plant
parts stated in the standard and describe what the parts of a plant’s functions are. Students will be
asked to narrate their videos before sharing them with the teacher and their peers on a class Padlet.

Managing student learning: The tool of Adobe Express will encourage students to become an active

learner by having them create their own work to show their understanding of the standard. Students
will get to use their creativity by making a model and narrating the parts and functions of a plant. I
will manage student learning by setting a time limit of 30 minutes to complete this activity and if
needed be given extra time to complete the activity.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:

The lesson supports and enhances the learning experience for my students by incorporating an engaging and
creative activity. This lesson also supports the Universal Design for Learning because it prompts students to
use their individual creative expression to create a video that shows their understanding of the standard of
parts of a plant. Students will be engaged during the activity since they get to create their own project to
share with the teacher and their classmates.

Reflection: I believe the activity I created will impact student learning by keeping them engaged
throughout the lesson. Having students use their creativity will help them to retain content because
they are individually making a model and recording a video about the important parts of a plant
listed in the standard. The part of the lesson I am most looking forward to is having the students
share their work with the class and myself to showcase what my students have learned and the
unique projects that come with it.
