reaction formed of (1)Mikulicz cells are large cells with pale to clear
cytoplasm and small rounded nuclei. These cells represent macrophages
with hydropic degeneration, and they are pathognomonic to the disease.
(2) Russell bodies: are homogenous pink bodies representing hyaline
degeneration of plasma cells.

In between such Mikulicz cells and Russell bodies, there are chronic
inflammatory cells mainly lymphocytes, plasma cells and fibroblasts.
