March 18, 1928, in Lingayen, Pangasinan
Graduated at Centro Escolar University Integrated School in 1945
Graduated BS in Military Engineering from the US Military
Academy in West Point
Passed the Board Exam at 8th Place
Obtained a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the
University of Illinois in the US
Served the Marcos’ authoritarian regime for more than 20 years
Served as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and later became the
Secretary of National Defense during the Aquino administration
Played a key role in the People Power Revolution in 1986

On June 12, 1998, the nation celebrated its


centennial year of independence from Spain.
The celebrations were held simultaneously
nationwide by then President Fidel V. Ramos
and Filipino communities worldwide.
One of the major projects of the commission
was the Expo Pilipino, a grand showcase of the
Philippines' growth as a nation for the last 100
years, located in the Clark Special Economic
Zone (formerly Clark Air Base) in Angeles City.
