Q.1.(4+3+3)
I. The difference between the outer and the inner curved surfaces of a cylinder 14cm long is 88sq.cm. Find
the outer and the inner radii of the cylinder, given that the volume of the metal is 176 cubic cm.
II. Solve for x , (correct to 2 decimal places): 5x(x+2)=3
III. The sum of first 3 terms of an A.P. is 33. If the product of the first and the third terms exceeds the second
term by 29, find the A.P.

I. Given that (x+1) and (x+2) are factors of 𝑥 3 + 𝑎𝑥 2 − 𝑏𝑥 − 6,find the values of a and b. With these values
of a and b, factorise the given expression completely.

I. The height of a cone is 40 cm. A small cone is cut off at the top by a plane parallel to its base. If its volume
be 1/64 of the volume of the given cone, at what height above the base is the section cut?
II. Find the sum of the last 10 terms of the A.P. 8,10,12,…,126.
III. A bag contains 12 balls out of which x are black.
a) If a ball is drawn at random, what is the probability that it will be a black ball?
b) If 6 more black balls are put in the bag, the probability of drawing a black ball will be double than that
of (a). Find the value of x.

I. A right triangle, with sides 15 cm and 20 cm, is made to revolve about its hypotenuse. Find the volume and
the surface area of the double cone so formed.(take 𝜋 = 3.14)
II. When divided by (x−3) the polynomials 𝑥 3 − 𝑝𝑥 2 + 𝑥 + 6 and 2𝑥 3 − 𝑥 2 − (𝑝 + 3)𝑥 − 6 leave the same
remainder. Find the value of p.

I. Prove that : sin 𝜃 (1 + tan 𝜃) + cos 𝜃 (1 + cot 𝜃) = sec 𝜃 + cosec 𝜃.
II. The surface area of a solid sphere is 1256 sq.cm. It is cut into two hemispheres. Find the total surface area
and the volume of hemisphere.
III. From a pack of 52 playing cards, all cards whose numbers are multiples of 3 are removed. A card is now
drawn at random. What is the probability that the card drawn is –
a) a face card , b) an odd numbered of red card?

I. The lower window of a house is at a height of 2 m above the ground and its upper window is 4 m vertically
above the lower window. At certain instant the angle of elevation of a balloon from these windows are
observed to be 60° and 30° respectively. Find the height of the balloon above the ground.
II. A vessel is in the form of an inverted cone. Its height is 8 cm and radius of its top, which is open, is 5 cm. It
is filled with water upto the brim. When lead shots, each of which is a sphere of radius 0.5 cm are dropped
into the vessel, ¼ th of the water flows out. Find the number of lead shots dropped into the vessel.
III. The sum of first 3 terms of a G.P. is to the sum of first 6 terms as 125:152. Find the common ratio.

I. A solid sphere of radius 6 cm is melted into a hollow cylinder of uniform thickness. If the external radius
of the base of the cylinder is 5 cm and its height is 32 cm, find the uniform thickness of the cylinder.
II. If m times the mth term of an A.P. is equal to n time its nth term, then find its (m+n)th term.
III. Prove: 2(𝑠𝑖𝑛6 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠 6 𝜃)−3(𝑠𝑖𝑛4 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠 4 𝜃)+1=0 .

I. Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite to each other on either side of the road which is 80 m
wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the top of the poles are 60° and
30°, respectively. Find the height of the poles and the distances of the point from the poles.
II. Solve and graph the solution set on number line: 2x−5≤ 5𝑥 + 4 < 11 ; x ∈ R.
III. A peacock is sitting on the top of a pillar, which is 9m high. From a point 27m away from the bottom of the
pillar, a snake is coming to its hole at the base of the pillar. Seeing the snake ,the peacock pounces on it. If
their speeds are equal, at what distance from the whole is the snake caught?
Q.10.(4+3+3)
I. A cylindrical can whose base is horizontal and of radius 3.5 cm contains sufficient water so that when a
sphere is placed in the can, the water just covers the sphere. Given that the sphere just fits into the can,
Calculate : a) the total surface area of the can in contact with water when the sphere is in it.
b) the depth of the water in the can before the sphere was put into the can.
