Aconite - Sudden onset of fever with fear and panic, often after exposure to a cold wind.
Patient wakes with a high fever, seemingly out of nowhere. Pale face and constricted pupils.
Arsenicum - Flu with vomiting and diarrhea. Severe weakness, chills with restlessness and
anxiety. VERY restless and agitated. Chilly with burning pains that are better with heat.
Belladonna - Top fever remedy in flu. Sudden high fever with red face, glassy eyes, and "out
of it" presentation. Dialated pupils and bright red face. Throbbing headache with fever.
Bryonia - Headache and body aches that are worse from any movement, even moving the
eyeballs. Very thirsty. Irritable patient, wants to be left alone and to be still. Coated tongue.
Eupatorium - VERY severe body aches - can feel like the bones are breaking. Moaning from
the pain. Chills with fever and thirsty for cold drinks.
Gelsemium - Droopy, lethargic and very tired. The weakness is the most outstanding aspect.
Chills and a slow onset illness - comes on over a few days. Not sudden.

Mercurius - Flu lingering into a sinus infection or cough with smelly, yellow or green
discharge. Extreme weakness, depression, and very "sick" presentation. Smelly patient.
Nux vomica - Flu with GI distress. Cramping, nausea, with ineffectual urging (wants to go but
can't) Fever with EXTREME chills and sensitivity. Skin feels too sensitive to uncover. Irritable.
Rhus tox - Extreme restless and aching. Very chilly and better with warm drinks. Has to move
and stretch constantly - body feels stiff. The most restless remedy. Cold sores with flu.

Dosing and potency: 30C is a good place to start for home prescribing. For something
with a very sudden onset like high fever, give a dose of Aconite or Belladonna every 10
minutes for 3 doses. For something with a slower onset like a Gelsemium flu, you would
give a dose 3-4x per day for 2-3 days and expect it to improve more slowly.
