Wheat is purchased from various countries and ports like USA, Canada,
Russia, Argentina, Geramny etc
Multiple type of wheat (5-6 types) is purchased
Each plant need multiple of type of wheat
We mix different types of wheat to make flour (also called gristing)
Even single wheat type wheat shortage can stop production
Storage capacity of wheat is limited at each site mentioned in different tab
We neeed to optimize inventory level of wheat also - Working Capital
Wheat comes in ship and typical ship can carry about 45,000 MT of wheat
Different wheat type has different consumption in different site
One ship normally carries only one type of wheat only
We shall have 5 ports where ship can be docked
However, total factory locations are 11
We move the wheat to non-port factory by trucks
Wheat requirement in each plant is determined by capacity of plant and
demand from that plant
Typical shelf life of wheat is 3-4 months in storage
Vessel buying cycle is typical 3 months (contract to landing)
Typical sailing time between port to port in Nigeria is one day
