The Metropolitan Opera( generally known as the Met( Note 1)) is an American pieces company rested in

New York City, presently resident at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, deposited on the
Upper West Side of Manhattan. The company is operated by thenon- profit Metropolitan Opera Association,
with Peter Gelb as general director. As of 2018, the company's current music director is Yannick Nézet-
Séguin. The Met was founded in 1883 as an volition to the previously established Academy of Music pieces
house and debuted the same time in a new structure on 39th and Broadway( now known as the" Old Met").(

presented in offered products that range in style from those with elaborate traditional decors to others that
feature modern abstract designs. The Met's performing company consists of a large symphony symphony, a
chorus, children's chorus, and multitudinous supporting and leading single singers. The company also
employs numerous free- shaft hop, actors, musicians and other players throughout the season. The Met's
canon of vocalizers includes both international and American artists, some of whose careers have been
developed through the Met's immature artists programs. While multitudinous singers appear periodically as
guests with the company, others maintain a close long- standing association with the Met, appearing
multitudinous times each season until they retire.
