AHB: Description of standard features and options

Full Feature

The GA Full Feature unit means a refrigeration dryer is fully integrated in the compressor unit. This
“all-in-one” feature not only reduces the space requirement for installing the compressor but also
provides savings on piping installation cost.
An R-404 refrigerant gas is use on the integrated dryer to meet environmental regulations. As
standard, a by-pass system is included.

Integrated DD Filter

By integrating an optional DD filter, the GA Full Feature unit turns into a fully integrated
compressed air station delivering Quality Air according to ISO 8573-1, Class 2.4.2.
The integrated DD filter has a particle removal down to 1 micron and provides a maximum
remaining oil aerosol of 0.1 mg/m³.

Integrated OSD

The Oil Separating Device (OSD) separates the oil-residues from the condensate water. The clean
water can be drained in the sewer without any further treatment. The separated oil is gathered in a
container and can be disposed of according to prevailing regulations.
An OSD 315 is integrated for the GA Pack units.
For the GA Full Feature units, an OSD 90 is added specific for the integrated dryer.

Electronic Water Drain

The Electronic Water Drain (EWD) assures proper draining of condensate water and thus prevents
water in the compressed air system. It generates a warning signal at any malfunction of the
draining process. The warning message appears on the Elektronikon display.
The EWD takes over the drain-function of the WSD water separator. The floating ball from the
WSD water separator is removed and the automatic drain is connected to the EWD.

Energy Recovery

For the GA oil-injected screw compressor, the major part of the compression heat is dissipated
through the oil system.
The energy recovery system are designed to recover most of the above-mentioned heat in the form
of warm water or hot water without any adverse influence on the compressor performance.

Oil Containing Frame

This additional collector frame is to be installed under the standard machine and will collect oil from
occasional leakage and avoid oil to spread over the floor.

Modulation Control

The Modulating Control system is designed to maintain a narrow pressure band if the air
consumption varies between certain limits.
The net pressure is kept within a narrow pressure band (0.2 bar) by throttling the air inlet, thus
reducing the airflow (50%–100%) . Below a certain air consumption the compressor will run
alternately unloaded and loaded.

Heavy Duty Air Intake Filter

In site installation where there is extensive presence of dust (i.e., cement industry, mining industry
and the likes) a two-stage heavy-duty air intake filter can be installed.
The filter efficiency (SAE fine) is 99% at 1µm, 99,8% at 2 µm, and 99,9% at 3 µm. With the HDF,
there is further a cyclonic action that collects the larger dust particle at the first stage of filtration.
The pressure drop is equal to the standard air intake filter.

Rain Protection

For installation where the GA compressor unit will be located outdoor, the Rain Protection option
can be installed.
The rain protection prevents rain from entering the machine. At the same time it protects the
display of the Elektronikon module against sun and rain.
It is composed of several baffles and covers that are mounted on the compressor unit.

High Ambient Temperature (HAT) Version

The GA HAT version is specially designed for continuous operation in humid and extreme hot
ambient temperature environment up to 50 °C.
This option is available for GA air and water-cooled units except for 13 bar (200 psi) and GA Full
Feature units.

Phase Sequence Relay

Phase sequence relay option avoids the drive motor to operate on reverse rotation.

PT 1000 Thermal Protection

A PT 1000 Thermal Protection provides further protection for the main drive motor.
Five sensors are installed in the main motor of which 2 sensors are for the bearings and 3 sensors
are for the windings.
The Elektronikon display shows temperature with shut-down warning and function.

DIN/BSP or ANSI/NPT Connections

From GA90-160, a BSP or NPT connection can be chosen.


From GA200-315, DIN or ANSI can be chosen.

HD Roto-Fluid

Specially formulated for Atlas Copco GA oil-injected screw compressor. It provides better cooling
efficiency and extends oil-change to 8000 hrs.
Classifications: No human health hazards, Not classified as flammable but will burn, Not classified
as dangerous for supply and conveyance.

Communication Module

COM1 / COM2 module allows for remote communication and monitoring with the Elektronikon to
access and control all available data.

Communication can be realized through:


- RS 232 C, which is intended for short distance (15m) point to point communication.
- Current loop, which is intended for long distance (1.2 km) general communication.

Communication can be realized between:


- ES400
- Customer’s PC or production control system

Cooling Air Outlet Ducting

Diverse the cooling-air in such a way that the hot air is not lead to the cooling air inlet.
This option is available only on GA air-cooled units.

Lifting Device

The lifting device allows the customer to lift the compressor by means of, for example a crane. It is
a solid steel beam construction bolted to the compressor base frame.
It is AIB and CE approved, and hence complies to all safety standards applicable.
