PLANNED EMERGENCY
Flight crew To Cabin Crew

or EMERG CALL ( Alternate Call)
PURSER-FLIGHT DECK BRIEFING (NITS)
N: Nature of the emergency
What is the type of the emergency?"
• "How does this affect Passengers and the cabin?"
I: Intention (landing, Ditching, Divert etc)
T: TIME REMAINING
If possible, request that fifteen minutes be provided for cabin preparation
If fifteen minutes not available, determine time frame as follows
5 – 10 minutes – SHORT – CABIN PREPARATION
More than 10 minutes – LONG CABIN PREPARATION.
S: SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Confirm that should evacuation be necessary an evacuation signal will be given:
• this will be EVACUATE, EVACUATE, EVACUATE "or a variance (left/right) due
to exit suitability (aircraft side)
Confirm if the brace signal is going to be "BRACE, BRACE" over the PA system?

- Final safety cabin check
- Confirm all slides are armed and free from obstructions
- Confirm all Emergency equipments are accessible
- Adjust cabin lights ( suitable for external conditions)
- Advise PIC ‘’CABIN SECURE FOR LANDING’’

“ATTENTION, CREW - Cabin Crew to remain in their seats
AT STATIONS” -Perform silent review
- Assess outside condition
- Await the PIC s instruction
N.B: If the engines have been shut down and no
communication has been received from the flight
deck, attempt to establish communication as
follows:
- Enter the flight deck
- Determine necessary actions
- Communicate/ provide directions to initiate
evacuation
- Initiate evacuation
Or
- Allowing a reasonable length of time for a reply
- If there is no response, reassess the situation
and if it is considered catastrophic, initiate
Evacuation
- If situation is not catastrophic, call flight deck
again

“CABIN CREW, NORMAL Further communication will be provided by the
OPERATIONS” flight deck, in form of an evacuation command,
or an explanatory announcement.
If no communication is provided, and the
engines are shut down, attempt communication
with flight deck.

EMER CALL to Cabin crew : When displacement is requested the flight
RAPID DISPLACEMENT attendant will make a public address
Note: Purser will make PA to announcement, advising passengers of the need to

Blocked Exit Procedures
To block an exit
S –Shout the problem
E – Elevate yourself (only if necessary)
A –Assess which exits are in use/operable
R – Redirect passengers to exits
Once the exit is blocked, instruct a
selected passenger to hold
passengers back from exit to
prevent its use.

- Check cabin, galley, and cockpit


- Removal of emergency equipment
- Gather passengers 500 yards (400 meters)
upwind
- Provide first aid and protection from the
elements
