REGULATIONS

MADE BY THE MINISTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY UNDER SECTION 244


OF THE DEFENCE ACT

THE DEFENCE (RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCES)


REGULATIONS, 2010

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Defence (Rates of Pay Citation


and Allowances) Regulations, 2010.

2. The Defence (Rates of Pay and Allowances) Regulations, 1989 L.N. No. 84 of
1989 amended
are amended—
(a) in regulation 14, by deleting subregulation (4) and
substituting the following subregulation:
“(4) Where an officer or other rank is—
(a) on duty, other than training in a country
other than Trinidad and Tobago, in addition
to all expenses for accommodation and meals
being defrayed, he is entitled to a per diem
allowance in keeping with Ministry of Finance
Circular No. 3 of 1999; or
(b) on training, in a country other than Trinidad
and Tobago, in addition to all expenses for
accommodation and meals being defrayed, he
is entitled to a daily subsistence allowance as
set out in Part II of the Schedule.”;
(b) in regulation 17—
(i) by deleting subregulation (2) and substituting the
following subregulation:
“(2) Subregulation (1) is deemed to have come
into effect on 1st January, 1975.”; and
(ii) by inserting after subregulation (3), the following
new subregulation:
“(4) An officer, other rank, or a Cadet who is on
duty, other than training in a country other than
Trinidad and Tobago is entitled to a warm
clothing allowance in keeping with the Ministry
of Finance Circular No. 3 of 1999.”;

(c) in regulation 25, by deleting the words “the subsistence


allowance set out in Part II of the Schedule” and
substituting the words “a per diem allowance in keeping
with the Ministry of Finance Circular No. 3 of 1999 and the
Comptroller of Accounts Circular Memorandum No. 2 of
1999”; and
(d) in the Schedule—
(i) in Part I, by inserting the following rates of pay:

3. These Regulations are deemed to have come into effect on the Commencement
