Finite Element Analysis

Preprocessing: Analyze the cantilever beam shown in the figure for Total deformation,
Directional deformation, and Equivalent (Von Mises) stress.

(Material: Structural steel, Material behavior: Flexible)

Processing:

a) Total Deformation:

b) Directional Deformation:
Finite Element Analysis

c) Equivalent Deformation:

Post Processing:

In this experiment, a cantilever beam with dimensions of 100mm x 10mm x 10mm

was fixed from one end with the downward pressure of 1 Mpa applied to the above surface.
a) At the free end, the total deformation is minimum, while at the fixed end, it is
maximum.
b) During directional deformation, the maximum deformation occurs at the free end and
the minimum deformation occurs at the fixed end.
c) The upper and lower ends of the fixed end experience the greatest equivalent
deformation, while the free end experiences the least.
