Lesson
Overview: Lesson 9

In this lesson I will be introducing attaching cardboard and we will be doing a sheet along with
that.

GOs:
General Learner Expectations

Students will:

1-7 Construct objects and models of objects, using a variety of different

materials.

1-8 Identify the purpose of different components in a personally constructed

object or model, and identify corresponding components in a related object or
model.

SOs: Specific Learner Expectations

Students will:

1. Select appropriate materials, such as papers, plastics, woods; and design

identify parts in one object that correspond to parts in another, and
identify similarities and differences between these parts.

Review of Previous Concepts/New Learning:

Students come in, they will sit in front of the board.

We will begin with our activity brain break

Transition

Students still at board

Body:

Learning Activity 1:

Then under the camera I will show different ways to attach cardboard
(interlocking slots, tabs, tabbed gusset, flange, tab-n-slot, L-bracket, and
mechanical fastener
- We can also brainstorm other ways to put cardboard together (glue stick,
white glue, hot glue, scotch tape, masking tape).

I will then explain our sheet

- Students’ will be expected to try the 4 different ways of attaching
cardboard on their sheet but with paper. When they are done they will
glue or tape it in the designated box. Students’ must finish our other
activities before moving onto the cardboard sheet

Transition

Students will go back to their desks to work and I will put together our poster
when I am able to, to put up to help them

Learning Activity 2:
Subject/Grade: Science, Grade ½ (gr. 1 objectives) Lesson/Date: Time: 1:00 - 2:30
If students finish everything, they can sign up for a new building to do with the
nets.

If we have lots of extra time and many people are close to being done
everything, I have a google slides video slide we can go through and watch if
needed.
