Cycle
Transaction Processing: The Data
Processing Cycle
1. User : akuntan maupun user lain memiliki peran penting dalam siklus
pemrosesan data. Data di input, simpan, akses, update, di ambil →
informasi terjadwal dan tidak diantisipasi.

2. Ilustrasi : Manual ( tidak menggunakan komputerisasi) – data → jurnal

→ buku besar. Sebaliknya menggunakan komputer – data input,
simpan file, dan database.

3. Siklus pemrosesan data ( data processing cycle) – data input, data

storage, data processing, and information output .

Source Document
Documents used to capture transaction
data at its source – when the transaction
takes place. Examples include sales
orders, purchase orders, and employee
time cards.
Turnaround document
Records of company data sent to an external
party and then returned to the system as
input. Turnaround documents are in machine
readable form to facilitate their subsequent
processing as input records. An example is a
utility bill.
Devices capture transaction data in machine
readable form at the time and place of their origin.
Examples include ATMs used by banks, point-of-sale
(POS) scanners used in retail stores, and bar code
scanners used in warehouses

Data input
1. Tahap kedua: proses memasukkan data yang direkam secara
akurat dan lengkap.

2. Pengelompokkan data → checkoff boxes dan pull – down

menus.

3. Memberi penomoran secara urut → verifikasi data yang di

input.
Data input
1. Tahap ketiga: proses penginputan
dipastikan mengikuti kebijakan
perusahaan yang diikuti seperti
transaksi approving atau verifikasi.

Data Storage
Organisasi harus siap dan
mudah untuk akses data.
Computer- based storage concepts
1. Entity is something about which information is stored, such as
employees, inventory items, and customers.
2. Computers store data in a field. The fields containing data
about entity attributes constitute a record.
3. File is a group of related records.
4. A master file, like a ledger in a manual AIS, stores cumulative
information about an organization (Permanent)
5. A transaction file contains records of individual business
transactions that occur during a specific time (non permanent).
Data Processing
1. Creating new data records, such as adding a newly hired employee to the
payroll database.

2. Reading, retrieving, or viewing existing data.

3. Updating previously stored data.

4. Deleting data, such as purging the vendor master file of all vendors the
company no longer does business with
Data Processing
1. Updating done periodically, such as daily, is referred to as
batch processing. Although batch processing is cheaper
and more efficient, the data are current and accurate only
immediately after processing.
2. update each transaction as it occurs, referred to as online,
real-time processing.
Information Output
1. Documents are records of transaction or other
company data. Some, such as checks and
invoices, are transmitted to external parties.

2. Reports are used by employees to control

operational activities and by managers to make
decisions and to formulate business strategies.
