 18 11 001 Replacement of sealing between
exhaust manifold and front
exhaust pipe

Remove exhaust support.

Note when fitting: Press exhaust support (I ) against
the exhaust pipe so that it is free of tension. Fasten
support plate (2) to the gearbox and the exhaust
support. Then tighten support bracket (3).
If these components are fitted in a different way,
it is possible that the exhaust pipe will vibrate loudly
when the car is running.

Remove front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and

replace seal.
Note when fitting: Coat stud pins with
Molykote-paste G.

18 11 021 Replacement of front exhaust pipe

Unscrew hexagon head nuts on three-hole flange.

Note when fitting: Check seal and replace if
necessary.

Remove exhaust support.

Note when fitting: Press exhaust support (1) against
the exhaust pipe so that it is free of tension. Fasten
support plate (2) to the gearbox and the exhaust
support. Then tighten support bracket (3).
If these components are fitted in a different way, it is
possible that the exhaust pipe will vibrate loudly when
the car is running.

10.73 Alteration 18-11/l

 Detach front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and
remove.
Note when fitting: Coat stud pins with
Molykote-paste G.

18 12 031 Renewing secondary silencer

Remove clamp between primary and secondary

silencers.

Detach front rubber ring.

Detach rear rubber ring.

Fitting instruction: Note fitted position of end piece.

Dimension A = approx. 40 i 45 mm (1.57 + 1.77”).
In the case of deviations upwards or downwards
severe booming noises can result.

Remove clamp between primary and secondary

silencers.

Unscrew hexagon nuts on three-hole

flange and withdraw primary silencer.
