TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

1. Prayer
“Let us pray first. Sacrlit can you lead Opening Prayer
“Yes, Teacher.”
the prayer’’ Dear lord

Amen.

2. Greetings
Good morning class,
Good morning teacher.
How are you?
We’re good teacher.
That’s nice to hear.
3. Checking of attendance Yes, teacher! We’re glad to say that no one
Is everybody present today? is absent today.
That’s glad to hear!

4. Classroom management
Please pick up all the pieces of paper and
candy wrapper under your chair and throw
it in the trashcan and arrange your chair
and sit properly.

5. Recalling of Classroom Rules

Before we proceed, make sure that you
are in a proper seat.
So here are our classroom rules that
everyone should always follow:

1) Raise your hand if you know the

answer.
2) Listen when the teacher is talking.
3) Follow every instruction of your
teacher.

Is that clear class? Yes teacher!

Very good!

B. Engagement activities
1. Review Our previous lesson was all about
What was our previous lesson? “Solvingproblem involving the elapsed
time.”
What you are going to do to solve for the
elapsed time? Subtract the time when the activity
gotfinished, from the time when it’s started.

C. Motivation
(The teacher will facilitate the game
bring me) Mechanics of the game: The
facilitator will ask to bring an item, the
first person to find the item and bring it in
front gets the point or win the game.

1. Bring me an object that is shaped

like: a triangle.

2. Bring me an object that is ( the pupils will bring the objects in front)
shapedlike a square.

3. Bring me an object that is shaped like

a rectangle

D. Lesson Proper
(The pupis will identify the shape)
What are these shapes or figures?

Square, Triangle, Parallelogram, Rectangle

(Pupils will do the activity)

Today we are going to learn how to find the

total distance around these closed figures
called the Perimeter.
The teacher will divide the Class into 2 groups
and they will answer the guide question as the
teacher provide the materials.
GROUP 1. Side: 15cm
a. What is the measurement of each side?
a. Side: 15cm
Cloth Side: 15cm

Side: 15 cm

b. What operation you will going to use to b. The operation to be use is addition.
be able to find the total measurement of
the piece of cloth?
c. (the answer may vary)
c. Write the number sentence?
d. 60 cm
d. What is the total distance around the
cloth? GROUP 2.

GROUP 2. Side: 15 cm
a. What is the measurement of each side?
a. Side:

Side: 24cm Side:24 cm

Side: 24 cm

b. What operation you will going to use to b. The operation to be use is addition.
be able to find the total measurement of
the triangle?
c. (The answer or the solution may
vary)
c. Write the number sentence?

d. What is the total distance around the

cloth? d. 74 cm

E. Discussion
PERIMETER
What is PERIMETER?  The surface around the plane figure
 The outline of a shape
 The sum of the length of a polygon
What is the formula in getting the perimeter of
the square?
Side: 15cm
a. Side: 15 cm
cloth
Side: 15cm Side: 15cm

P stands for? Formula of the square:

S stands for? P=S+S+S+S

Perimeter The four sides of the square.

Going back in the Group Activity: P=S+S+S+S

What would be the solution? P= 15 + 15+15+15 P= 60 cm
What is the answer?

Side: 8cm
Another example: What is the perimeter of the
square? a.
Side: 8 cm cloth Side:8
cm
Side: 8 cm
P=S+S+S+S
P= 8 + 8+ 8=8
Next, what is the formula in getting the P= 32 cm
perimeter of a triangle?
a.
Side: 24cm Side: 24cm

Side: 24cm
So, that is why there are only 3 ( S ) in the Formula of the triangle:
formula of the triangle not similar with the P = S + S + S
square
Perimeter The triangle has 3 sides
P=S+S+S
Another example: P= 24 + 24+24
P= 62 cm
What is the perimeter of a triangle?
Find the Perimeter.
So, what you are going to do to find the
perimeter? Side: 38cm Side: 38 cm
Side:38 cm
P=S+S+S
P= 38 + 38+38
However, even I am telling you that we could P= 114
just add to find the perimeter of a certain figure,
in finding the Perimeter of a rectangle we can
use other formula.

What is the formula of rectangle?

Just Add the sides of the figure.
Let L be length Which is the length?
Let W be the Width.

To use this formula let us solve the Problem. Formula of a rectangle:

P= 2L x 2W

What is ask in the problem? The longest side

What are given? The shortest side
Which is the length?
Which is the width?
Rio wants to stay fit so she walks around a
rectangular park everyday which measures
Let us use the formula 120 meter by 75 meter. What is the
distance that Rio covers everyday?
The distance that Rio covers everyday.

120 m and 75 m
What are the operation that we use to solve the
120m
perimeter?
75m

Addition and multiplication

Formula of rectangle:
P= 2L x 2W
We can also derive our answers using another P= 2(120) + 2 (75)
formula. let’s see if we are going to come up P= 240 + 150
with the same answer. P= 390 m

Formula:
P= 2( L+ W)
We could also use this formula for another P= 2 (120 + 75 )
figure like a parallelogram. P= 2 (195)
P= 390 m
Formula:
P= 2( L+ W)

Example: Find the Perimeter of the

Parallelogram
Using this formula
10cm
5cm 5cm
10cm

P= 2( L+ W)
P= 2 ( 10 x 5 )
P=2 ( 50 )
F. Application P = 100cm
Give the formula in finding the perimeter of
the following figures, then use it to find the
perimeters. 1.
5cm 5cm

5cm 5cm

2.
70 cm 60 cm
45cm

3.
