Symbolism: the belts were the symbol of Maribella’s great heart

Characters and characteristics:

Maribella: she was thin, and shorter than other 14 year-old girls. She had a humpback. She is a
happy person.

Luz: she’s Maribella’s mother. Most of the time she is worried about her daughter.

Señor Ninantay: he was a man from the village, and Gregorio’s father. He doesn’t like M.

Gregorio: Maribella’s best friend

Rocio: the nurse who helped Maribella

Pistacho: the bad creature in the story. It was able to kill, and eat people, especially kids. Also
could became a condor, a snake, a puma, or use the body of a death man.

The story is related to the title. Maribella’s dream was to walk into the rainbow, she loved the
rainbow.

Most of the problems are solved, the Pistacho was killed, but they couldn’t recover the
children that were already dead. At the end Maribella could go to the top of the mountain but
we did not know if she could reach the rainbow.

If I could change the end I would say that Maribella said goodbay to everyone in the village,
and went to the city with Luz, and decided to live there.

I liked the story, nowadays is very important to focus on the people’s heart and not in their
appearance, because people can hide a lot of good (or bad) things inside them.

Plot
Maribella lives with her mother. M was a 14 years-old girl, thinner and shorter than other girls
of her age, due to her humpback. Despite this she was a happy girl. Her mother wasn’t happy,
she wanted to move to the city because the villagers didn’t want them there, they said M was
cursed.

M had a dream, it was to go into the rainbow.

One day she tried to go to the rainbow, but because of her humpback, she felt a lot of pain in
her legs and arms, and she had difficult to breath. She had to stop, and spent the night in the
mountain.
The next day she was rescued by gregorio and sr ninantay, she wasn’t able to walk. after that
sr ninantay sent a nurse to Maribella’s house. She told Luz: if M doesn’t have a surgery she
could lose the ability to walk and also could die.

They go to the city for 3 months, in that time M recovered and was able to walk again.
Meanwhile the Pistacho was attacking the villagers, it took 3 children’s life, the third was
gregorio’s.

Luz wanted to stay in the city but M didn’t, so she went to the village by herself. Then she
found out what happened to the children including her friend, so she made a plan of killing the
Pistacho herself. She achieved with the help of the magic belts, after this, the villagers called
her ‘their savior’. At the end she tried again to follow her dream, and go into the rainbow.
