Dear Sir,

The requisite information in respect of this Jail regarding steps takcn

to
prevent the prisoners and staff are as under:-

I what measures are treing taken by the Jait Authoriteis in your District for
the screening of Prisoners / Jail inmates regarding COVID_19?
A comprehensive SoP has been devised in the light of the directions of the

Government of the Punjab, Home Department Lahore and the Inspector

General of Prisons Punjab Lahore to check and prevent the inciclence ol-
Corona Virus. All the prisoners and stafl of the Jail are checked in detail by a
team of doctors and para medicals of District Llealth Authority Rahim yar
Khan to check any sign or sl,rnptom of COVID-l9. 'lhis exercise continues
from 31.03.2020 to 02.04.2020. After this screening 15-Nos. of prisoners and
05 jail officials were found susceptible for the disease. The naso-pharyngeal

swabs of these prisoners were taken to confirm the presence of Corona Virus
on 07 April 2020.
2 IIow many prisoners/Jail inmates have been tcstcd positivc for Corona
Virus, if so, their details?
The Jail authorities got the result of PCR test of the prisoners i staff on 14
April 2020 and it was by the grace of Almightily Allah that all are lound
negative for the COVID- 19 (The detail is enclosed).
3. If / Jail inmates have been tested positivc Corona Virus then
prisoners
whether they have been quarantined and what treatment is being
provided to them?
No prisoner of this Jail has been found positive for Cororla Virus. However, all
the measures are being taken to prevent this disease.
a. All the newly admitted prisoners are being medically checked in detail
through Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim yar Khan and in case of no

symptoms of Corona, they are admilted to Jail and again checked in detail
by the Medical Officer. They are not mixed with other prisoners but are

kept separate in Quarantine for 14 days to monitor thcir health profile and
check any symptom of the discase.

health & hygiene lecture is given.

d. PCO facility has been started for the prisoners to provide
them a chance ro
communication with their relatives.
e. Daily Cleanliness Campaign is continued,
Disinf.ectant Spray is donc on
daily basis' Disinfection through chlorination is also

f. A complete lock down for the staff members is imposed and no officer /
official is allowed to leave the station.
g. All staff members and staff are wearing face-masks and gloves.
h. Sanitizers, hand washing lotions, soaps are providcd to the prisoners.

i. Hand washing facility is made available at every point of the colony and

Jail and the exact method ofhand washing is taught to the prisoners.
j. The services of Psychologists are engaged to boost up the morale of thc
staff and the prisoners.

k. All the required medicines for symptomatic treatment of the disease has

been procured.

l. The District Health Authority has also visited the Jail to extend their help
in establishing a field Hospital in the Jail. For the purpose 08 Cells have

been earmarked.

m. 04-Nos. Infrared thermometers have been arrangcd and every prisoner /

visitor is prio$ checked to have any sign of disease and then allowed to
enter the Jail.

The Jail administration is trying its level best to take all the necessary
measues to prevent the disease.
