Difference between Gross Anatomy and Microscopic Anatomy

 Gross anatomy (or macroscopic) deals with the large structures that the eye can see by
observation and dissection, and in its simplest form, it only concerns the animal and the
human body such as muscles, bones, digestive organs or skin can be examined that do not
need to use magnifying devices like a microscope or magnifying glass. The study of gross
anatomy may involve dissection or noninvasive methods. The aim is to collect data about
the larger structures of organs and organ systems.

 Microscopic Anatomy (or histology) deals with study of structural units small enough to
be seen only with a microscope such as tissues, molecules and cells. These subjects are
too small to see without a microscope. Through a simple dissecting microscope, tissues
can be viewed, organized and described. Microscopic anatomy includes cytology, the
study of cells and histology, the study of tissues.
