Fort William, but he
exercised
control over East India

India.) He was
impeached in
England for his wrong-

namely The Rohilla

and execution of Nand
Kumar,
Case of Raja Chait

Begums of Oudh.
Lord Cornwallis 1786 - Permanent Settlement,

agreement between the

India Company and
Bengali
landlords to fix
revenues to be
raised from land was

period.
Lord Wellesley 1798 - He introduced the

Alliance, under which
the
Indian ruler agreed to

The first state to accept

Subsidiary Alliance was

State of Hyderabad.
Lord William 1828 - First to be designated

Lord Mayo 1869 - He was the Viceroy of

who was killed by a
convict in
the Andaman Islands.

Queen Victoria was
proclaimed
