MARBLE ROLLER COASTER: EL MARMORA DE MACHINA

The aim of this group project was to design and construct a unique paper model marble roller
coaster that could carry a marble uninterruptedly from beginning to end. The marble had to
come to a complete halt at the end of the roller coaster, and the design had to be both
distinctive and exhilarating while also being safe. The track's elements include a hill, a single
loop, a turn, ideally a jump, and a domino effect.
Rollern in the deep composes of recycled folders, balloon stick, recycled illustration board,
marbles, paint, popsicle, chipboard and jenga.
Despite numerous trials and errors, the marble eventually rolled effortlessly from beginning to
conclusion. The marble roller coaster served as a visual demonstration of physics concepts
including force, energy, and the three Newton laws. Due to the fact that potential energy is a
function of an object's mass and height (GPE = m x g x h), the roller coaster was built at an
elevation to maximize the potential energy of the marble at the peak of the ride. Newton's First
Law, often known as the law of inertia, asserts that an object at rest remains at rest and an
object in motion remains in motion unless the object is acted with by an external force. Until
the marble is set in motion by being deposited into the track and dragged down by gravity, it
will not roll down (remain at rest). The marble will lose a large portion of its potential energy as
it travels down the first drop, equivalent to the loss in height. The marble then picks up kinetic
energy; kinetic energy is dependent on an object's mass and velocity. When the stone falls in
height, it accelerates, converting potential energy into kinetic energy. According to Newton's
Second Law, an item's mass times its acceleration equals its net external force; in other words,
the acceleration is proportional to the force being applied as well as the mass of the object.
The marble's acceleration will fluctuate as it drops over hills, curves, and loops on the roller
coaster. According to Newton's Third Law, there is always an opposing force that acts in
response to every exterior force. The marble exerts force on the track for the entirety of the
roller coaster, but a normal force is acting in the opposite direction as the marble's weight
against it, allowing the marble to remain on the track. The marble keeps going, constantly
gaining and losing height. Each additional inch of height equals one less.
The marble roller coaster machine can relates in to our life since 3 Laws of motion is visible
that’s why in our everyday life, the 3 laws of motion is also visible in what we are doing such as
routines, interest, hobbies and actions we are doing. Therefore this machine is not only for one
trial, but with enough observation and knowledge this machine can also be a fun game to play.
NOTE: ONE MARBLE AT A TIME TO POP THE BALLOON, IF BALLOON IS NOT AVAILABLE, YOU
CAN DROP AS MANY MARBLES YOU WANT. YOU JUST NEED TO HAVE PATIENCE TO RE
ARRANGE THE JENGA.
