LABORATORY 1: LOGIC CIRCUITS

Aim

The aim of this experiment is to learn to build some simple logic circuits.

Resources and instructions

To complete this lab, please construct your circuits and take screenshots of
your completed digitally constructed circuits to include in your quiz on
StudySmart.

Start playing around: switch the various inputs on and off and see what
happens to the output LED. The figure below shows a schematic of an AND
circuit.
Your tutor will show you how to create logic circuits.

Procedure

Figure 1. AND gate symbol and the truth table with the two S1 and S2 input
signals and L1 as the output signal.

1. Build a 2-input AND gate circuit and save an image of your circuit. Use
the constructed circuit to complete the truth table for the gate.

2. a) Built a circuit for a 2-input NAND gate and save an image of your
circuit. Use the constructed circuit to complete the truth table for the gate.

b) Keep the circuit and the connection of the NAND gate and confirm with
the help of a new circuit that the output from the NAND gate gives the
same output as an AND gate followed by a NOT gate. Save an image of
your circuit. Use the latter constructed circuit to complete the truth table
for the gate.

3. Create a 2-input NOR gate and on the same circuit board create
another NOR gate by using NOT and AND gates. Save an image of the
circuit board.
