2010-2011 NeSA Scores Released

Student achievement scores were released today by the Nebraska Department of Education from last springs Nebraska State Accountability (NeSA) testing. All 3rd through 8th grade and 11th grade students participated in state assessments which focused on reading and mathematics standards. Norfolk Public Schools students continue to make consistent progress and exceeded state averages in many areas of both reading and mathematics. This is the second year for statewide reading assessments and the first year for mathematics. Below are some of the results that Norfolk Public Schools would like to highlight: 68% of our 3rd-8th and 11th graders met or exceeded Nebraska Reading Standards. 72% of last years 3rd graders and 77% of last years 4th graders met or exceeded the reading standards. This is up 9% and 12% respectively from the previous year. Students in grades 4th, 5th, 6th, and 11th exceeded state averages for proficiency in mathematics.

Norfolk Public Schools remains committed to improving student performance in all areas. Information from the Nebraska State Accountability tests are used to analyze and improve curriculum, instruction, interventions, and individual instruction for students.
