How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

I will begin my lesson my explaining the directions for their assignment. I want my students to learn
and create a video on Adobe Spark about Martin Luther King Jr. life and contributions with civil
rights. I will first show them my example of video. It will have information on MLK Jr. with pictures,
sound, and text. I will walk them through on how to work Adobe Spark and create their video. I will
handout a rubric for each student to follow when creating their video. They will need to have a title
page and at least 6 slides in their video. They will need to include information on him and what he
did for civil rights. They will also need to include pictures on most of the slides. Students are also
required to record their voice in the video reading off each slide. As a whole class we will go to the
computer lab to work on this video. I will be walking around the room and monitoring if any student
needs help. Once all students are finished, they will turn their video into me, and I will grade them
and give each student feedback. I will conclude my lesson by choosing two classmates video and
asking them if it is okay to show to the whole class. The class will watch these two videos to
conclude this lesson.
Managing student learning: When students create videos it drives their creativity and promote their
digital learning. Using this tool will allow them to create the video any way they would like and
design it with any colors or pictures. This lets students show their creativity and develop skills for the
digital world for their future. By creating this video, it will allow them to move from a passive learner
to an active learner by practicing these skills. I will give students a day to work on this in the
computer lab and if they need extra time we can go a second day to the computer lab. Before
students start making their video I will ask them to brainstorm some bullet points on a sheet of
paper about Martin Luther King Jr. and what they plan on addressing in their video. I will walk
around in the classroom and read over every students brainstorm and make sure they are on the
right track before beginning their video.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
This activity supports all students and enhances their learning experience by creating a video and
showing their prior knowledge and creativity. One of the UDL principles that supports my argument
is Action & Expression. The students are responding and creating their own work in this lesson. It
also allows students to create the video however they would like. They are optimizing this
technology tool and gaining skills while creating the video online. This lesson supports students who
are visual learners, auditory learners, and students who prefer to work by themselves.
Reflection:
I think creating the video through Adobe Spark will help students learn how to create videos using
this tool and learn about Martin Luther King Jr. life and accomplishments during civil rights times. I
look forward to viewing all the student’s videos about Martin Luther King Jr. I cannot wait to see
how they made their videos and how creative each students was.
