AMAR BANDHU RASHED

Introduction:  Bangladesh Liberation War also known as the Bangladesh War of Independence, or simply
the Liberation War in Bangladesh, was a revolution and armed conflict sparked by the rise of the Bengali
nationalist and self-determination movement in what was then East Pakistan during the 1971 Bangladesh
genocide. It resulted in the independence of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The war began after
the Pakistani military junta based in West Pakistan launched Operation Searchlight against the people of East
Pakistan on the night of 25 March 1971. It pursued the systematic elimination of nationalist Bengali civilians,
students, intelligentsia, religious minorities and armed personnel. The junta annulled the results of the 1970
elections and arrested Prime minister-designate Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The war ended on 16 December 1971
after West Pakistan surrendered. There are so many books published about our Liberation War. Today I will
introduce a famous book written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal named Amar BANDHU RASHED. 1971 was a turning
point in the sub-continent's history: it was when everything changed and Bangladesh came into existence. For nine
months from March to December, the people of the country sacrificed their lives and all else that they had for their
freedom in a way never before seen in the history of the world. This is the story of the Liberation War of Bangladesh,
seen through the eyes of a child.In 2011 Moshedul Islam make a flim about it.

A story of friendship.
A story of sacrifice.
A story of courage.

Summary of the story : This a story of a boy named Ibu during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He lives in a
small town. The main character Rashed suddenly appears at his school. Rashed, the name was given by the class teacher at
the first day at school. In 1971, when other students are not conscious about the liberation movement Rashed could
understand the matters. Rashed started to motivate others to make understand those matters. One day, Pakistani army attacks
the town and Rashed observes the battle. He and his friends starts to help Muktibahini. A member of Muktibahini they know,
named Shafiq, gets caught at battle. Rashed and his friends takes him out from death. One day, Rashed and his friends get
detached from each other. Ibu and his family leaves the town for a safe place over the border. But, Rashed stays and gets
involved with the war. The friends meet again after the war is over. But, Rashed was martyred at the war. This is a story of a
young gun of Bangladesh which reflects our fearless martyr's courage at liberation war.And still a motivation for our young
generation.

Why I choose this story?

This is one of the greatest story written about our liberation War.This is a teenage story and
so many things I point out that actually I analyse and learn from that story which I will
describe below
 Things I can analyse and learn from the story

There are several different plots that I can analyse and learn from that story. Let me introduce one by one

Introducing skill
 We can see how Rashed
introduce and describe about
liberation War to their friends.
Rashed knew everything
about war which was going
around him and by telling that
he made his friends to join
with him. This is the skill we
want in our regular life to
introduce something good to
people and to let the people
know what is good

Gender Equality
2nd thing I saw is gender
equality. All men and women
came together to protest
against Pakistanis. This made
us more powerful in that time
to go against the Pakistani
territories. This kind of
equality we need our society
all time to make our nation
great.

FEAR

When military came into

village and killed some men ,
people got scared. They
started trying to leave the village .Mainly hindu religious people got very sacred because they were the main
target of Pakistani military. From that part we can feel how much bad situation was created.

BETRAYER

I saw many betrayers who

actually belonged in
Bangladesh but they were
started supporting and
helping Pakistani. They are
called as “Rajakar" .Instead of
helping own nation they
betrayed and help them to kill
our people. This kind of persons are very harmful for a society and nation. We should always turn against them
 Bonding among friends

We saw a god level friendship

among Rashed and his
friends. They stayed together
planned together did work
together. They are perfect
example of term “Together
we strong “. They joined
muktibahini.They delivered
arms where its needed.They
promised themselves
whatever happens they will never go against country and trained themselves well to fight. They prove that if
friends gets together everything is possible. We should learn from them that we should always stay together to
do whatever good things we want and that will bring us success.

BRAVERY
I saw a amazing bravery in
Rashed and his friends. They
delivered arms , they joined a
deadly mission against
military. They attraked
Pakistani military camp , did
fire and killed many of
them .They did it in 12-16 years of age which adult people couldn’t do. We can learn from that we should always
be brave against enemy doesn’t matter it costs our life .

Intelligence

In their last mission together

they showed a good level
intelligence. They started a
mission to rescue Shafiq from
hospital. They intelligently attacked in hospital ,gets the key and meet with Shafiq.They could take him outside
from hospital but they didn’t because they know if they go outside with injured Shafiq they will be killed. So they
gave Shafiq some fake beard and fake identity and make him stay in hospital where military knew they ran with
him outside. I literally gets shocked when this happens. I can just salute them and this proves we can be weak but
if we are intelligent we can beat the stronger one

Sacrifice
The story ends very sadly.
Rashed got caught by a
Rajakar and he pointed a
gun .That Rajakar gave
Rashed a condition if he say
Pakistan Jindabad he will give
a chance to live .But in the
ends of his life Rashed didn’t
betray.He said Joy Bangla
twice and Rajakar shoot him.
Rashed sacrifice his life.
Salute to him . From that part there so many things to learn that I can’t explain. Only thing I can say is we should
be like Rashed

This is the one of the best story I ever read. So much respect for every person who sacrifice their life for nation.
Just because of them we are living in an independent nation. Joy Bangla.
