 What kinds of applications are described here? What business functions do they support?
How do they improve operational efficiency and decision making?

 The applications described in this case study are Virtual Lot, (SIMS), and Service App which are
designed by Sonic. These apps have been created to perform certain business tasks, like
document sharing, order processing, inventory management, production monitoring, data
collection, and auditing. These programs have made it possible for business owners to manage
vast organizations remotely and more effectively. For example, the company's sales
representatives can rapidly find any vehicle in the inventory by using the Virtual Lot dealer
inventory app. The various dealerships may have these automobiles available. Sales staff get
quick access to crucial data, such as pricing, financing possibilities, and other details about
vehicles. As a result, they can give customers more options while also assisting them in
selecting the finest vehicle for their needs. Beyond their dealerships, dealers can also sell their
stock.
 Sonic has created the Sonic Inventory Management System (SIMS) software to simplify
and expedite the pricing and trade-in assessment processes. The personnel has the
ability to photograph the vehicles wherever. Along with the problems, they also
included the VIN, or vehicle identification number, the mileage, and other information
about the automobile. The data is sent to company headquarters, where the evaluation
is quickly completed.
 Servicing Software facilitates quicker and easier activities connected to car service and
warranty. The company's employees place repair orders using their iPads, which
reduces the labor, time, and paper burden associated with the process.
 Identify the problems that these businesses solved using mobile digital devices?

 The main problem that has been raised in the case and addressed by using digital mobile
devices is that the majority of time-consuming and expensive manual tasks can be
completed more efficiently and accurately using these devices. Mobile devices with features
like automation and innovative artificial intelligence techniques help to reduce manual work
by converting it into digital forms and simplifying the work for the employees so they can
demonstrate more efficiency and productivity in their work. Because there will be less
human interaction and interference, there will be fewer human errors, which will eliminate
any issues.

 What kinds of businesses are most likely to benefit from equipping their employees with
mobile digital devices such as iPhones and iPads?

 The new applications assist the firm in increasing productivity, decreasing mistakes, and
improving the effectiveness of various business operations. For instance, the Virtual Lot app
helps the business increase customer satisfaction since sales associates always had access to
all client-related information with them. Dealership sales will rise as a result of the ability to
sell despite limitations like geographic location. With the Sonic Inventory Management App,
the evaluation may be completed more quickly and with fewer mistakes because the
information is backed up by on-site images. Cars will be in perfect working order when they
are sold since problems are also documented. As a result, consumer satisfaction will
increase even more. Additionally, pricing will be fairer, allowing the business to make the
most money possible from each transaction. Last but not least, the service app will lessen
service and repair faults, and the company will use less paper. The data can be saved and
shared effortlessly when all the information is readily available in digital form. Digital data
storage will ease the shift when the business wants to increase automation.

 One company deploying iPhones has said: "The iPhone is not a game changer; it is an bn
industry changer. It changes the way that you can interact with your customers and with
your suppliers." Discuss the implications of this statement.

 The iPhone is an industry changer in terms of interaction between customers and suppliers.
The iPhone eliminates the limitation of working hours and enables firms to function
whenever they choose, helping them to stay competitive. By using, companies don't need to
wait for business hours to complete some operations and may stay in touch with their
clients and suppliers at any time. Additionally, companies may communicate with anybody
who is crucial to their company strategy, such suppliers and clients.
 Make and receive payments - The iPhone includes a number of apps that enable billing and
payments while on the road. It streamlines paperwork and expedites the payment procedure.
 Conduct Surveys - Asking customers to do surveys on their iPhones is simpler.
 Customer service - Prompt and appropriate solutions are frequently offered.
 QR Codes - These are popular and speed up any process.
 5. Ordering - It expedites order processing and the distribution of sample photos and receipts.
 6.    Sale of goods and services – iPhones can make sales by organizing and sharing their
interests with customers.
 7.    Custom Applications – Many companies have introduced custom apps to make the
workflow smooth and access the company data from anywhere in the world.

For example, an online clothes store can quickly get in touch with their supplier by phone, SMS, or email
at any time of the day to place orders for the supplies they need to operate their store. Along with
keeping in contact with suppliers, the boutique can be in contact with their customers to make sure
their orders are made and sent out to the customer’s satisfaction Since the advent of the iPhone and
other technology breakthroughs, boutiques no longer need to open actual locations to sell their goods.
Instead, they can sell online to customers who don't want to visit real stores.
