CHANGING OF WIRE ROPE:

It is assumed that power is available for revolving the ‘Rope Drum’ see that the over winding gear is
disconnected. Lay the hook and block (Bottom Block) on the ground underneath the rope drum and
remove the pulley guards. Pass the rope drum balancing sheave. Reeve the two ends of the rope
round the pulley of the bottom block. Connect and clamp the two ends to the rope drum by rope
clamp provided for this purpose. Slowly wind up until slack rope is taken is and the block
suspended. Fit the pulley guards on the block.
If the power is not available, it is still position to fit the rope by winding the motion by hand. This
avoids waiting for electrical work to be completed when cranes are in course for erection.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BEFORE START OF CRANE
After the crane has been placed on the runway and all the connections are made, please
See the following points carefully.
Check all bolts for tightness and ensure lock washers have been used.
Check for and remove any leftovers, such as bolts, nuts, bars, hammers, wrenches and the like that
may have been incidentally left on the top of any horizontal plate.
Check for any oil spillage that may have accord during Erection.
Thoroughly grease every bearing on the crane and check all the gear boxes for oil.
Lubricate the wire rope.
