2º Term Review

Name: ____________________________________

1. A boy standing on the roof of a 4-meter-heigh house kicks a bottle with an initial
velocity of 10 m/s at an angle of 37º with respect to the horizontal. (Movement
Parabolic)
a. Calculate the maximum height of the bottle with respect to the street.
b. Calculate the hang time of the bottle.
c. Calculate the horizontal distance the bottle will travel.
2. A person ties a 0.4 kg-toy to a 5-meter-long string and makes it go in circles. If it
travels a full circle in 1 second what is its angular velocity, its linear velocity and the
centripetal force experienced by the bird.
3. The static friction coefficient of rubber and dry asphalt is 0.9. If a mustang Shelby
weighs around 1,900 kg:
a. What will be the minimum force needed to push it if the tires are locked
and don’t move.
b. The kinetic friction coefficient of rubber and dry asphalt is around 0.7. What
will be the force needed to keep the car “skidding” once it’s already in
motion.
inclinado a 30º. ¿Cuál es la aceleración si no existe fricción alguna?
6. Suponga que μk =0.2 en la figura de arriba. ¿Cuál es la aceleración?
7. How much gravitational potential energy does a 32-kg-boy have at the roof of a 5-
meter-building?
a. If the same boy falls to the ground, how much kinetic energy will he have
right before hitting the ground, and how fast will he be travelling?
b. What will his kinetic and potential energy be when he is 1 meter away from
the floor?
