The system confirms its functions before the remaining battery charge is indicated on the battery
indicator. After the battery charge status has been indicated, the system can be moved, the arm lock
released, or the DR system started. When the (standby indicator lamp) is illuminated,
radiography can be performed. The following limits are placed on X-ray radiography depending on
the remaining battery charge display.
1 to Radiography is possible.
• If the key switch is turned ON with the hand switch still depressed, code [F64]
1
or [F65] appears on the mAs display.
Release the hand switch.
• Please note that the battery voltage rises temporarily immediately after the system 1
is turned ON. As a result, the battery indicator will indicate more than the actual
remaining charge. After the system is used for a while, the battery display will
1
return to its actual remaining charge.
• If the key switch is turned ON with the emergency stop button still depressed,
code [F6d] appears on the mAs display.
If the emergency stop button is reset after the key switch is turned ON with
the emergency stop button in the pressed state, code [d20] or [d21] will appear
and the system will lock tight. In this case, restart the system while the emergency
1
stop button is in the reset state.

outlet.
• After the auto-power-off function activates, connecting the power plug to an outlet
starts battery charging. 1
• Even if the auto-power-off function stops the system, a small amount of power
from the battery will still be consumed. Turn the key switch to the OFF position
when the system is not in use.
If the system is left for several days in the auto-power-off state, the battery will be
1
completely discharged, which may lead to significantly reduced battery life and
overall performance.
• If All LEDs on the battery indicator are not illuminated, the auto-power-off function 1
will automatically start in 5 minutes to prevent wearing out the battery.
• If the DR system is running without connecting the power plug to an outlet, the
battery will be completely discharged within a few hours from when the last bar on
the battery indicator goes out; this may significantly reduce the battery life and

To move the system, firmly grip the grip bar with both hands and then
move the system.
Do NOT operate the grip bar using only one hand, or underhanded.
Doing so can result in not only operation errors and system damage, but may
1
also cause serious accident leading to injury or death.
1
• When driving the system where people are present, near equipment,
or close to a wall, drive slowly to be able to stop immediately and
maintain safety in the surroundings.
1
• Do NOT touch the brake release bar unless intending to move the
system.
Doing so will release the brake, allowing the system to move 1
unexpectedly.
• Immediately charge the battery if the last bar on the battery indicator
goes out. 1
• If the system moves abnormally, immediately stop using the system
and contact your Shimadzu service representative.
• The operator may experience static electric shock when moving the
system if their body has become statically charged, depending on
conditions such as humidity and type of clothing.
• When the [PAS] or [Acc] value for power-assist settings has been
changed, not only forward but also backward movement will be influenced.
To maintain the same backward movement, adjust the [bAc] value
accordingly.

1 Basic Operation
Store the FPD properly and lock the FPD before moving the system.
• When moving the system, make sure that there are no obstacles
ahead.
Hitting an IV stand or running over cables from other equipment could be
very dangerous to patients. The obstacle detector may not be able to
detect light weight obstacles in front of it, such as IV stands or cables from
other equipment.
• Do NOT move the system over any steps or bumps greater than 2 cm,
or slopes steeper than 7 degrees. Always stop the system on a level
surface and avoid sloped surfaces.
Failure to do so may cause the system to roll down the slope or tip over.
The system can be moved using the normal travel mode, low-speed travel mode, or inch-mover
buttons.
By squeezing the brake release bar of the grip bar and pushing on the bar, the system moves in the
direction it is pushed. In addition, the system's power-assist technology allows changing the travel
speed according to how much force is applied.
Maximum travel speed is approx. 5 km/h (Maximum instantaneous travel speed: 6 km/h, may vary
depending on condition).
The traveling speed of the system will be limited to about half the normal speed and the degree of
power-assist is limited to about half of its normal level. 1
1
• Do NOT move the system over bumps or other floor-level changes in
low-speed travel mode.
Since the arm is not locked, the arm may move and cause injuries or 1
damage to the system, or cause the system to tip over.

1 Basic Operation
Radiography parameters on this system are set using two controls − X-ray tube voltage and current-
time product. Based on the radiography tube current-time product (mAs) setting, the system
automatically determines the maximum X-ray tube current (mA) and the shortest exposure time(s)
available within the rated limits of the system and X-ray tube unit. Radiography parameters can be
changed using the methods described below.
The radiography parameter settings permitted on the system is constrained by X-ray tube voltage
(kV), current-time product (mAs), and radiography mode.
The relation between radiography parameters and radiography time are as follows.
• All radiography parameters below are available for the cassette radiography
mode.

Before X-ray exposure, make sure that the correct added filter is set to 1
the system.
If the added filter currently set is inconsistent with that registered to APR, it
will be impossible to calculate the dose area product correctly.
To register the added filters 1 and 2, contact your Shimadzu service
1
representative.
1
• The calculated dose area product values are just a guideline for reference
purposes. 1
The calculated values may have an error of 35 %, comparing to the dose actually
irradiated. The precision of the displayed calculation values is not guaranteed.
When using a small X-ray irradiation field or setting radiography parameters for
low dose, the uncertainty between the actual dose and the calculated value may 1
exceed 35 %.
• After pressing the first stage of the hand switch, do NOT operate the irradiation
field knob on the collimator until the exposure is completed. If you do so, the dose
area product will not be calculated correctly.
1
• If the dose display indicates [- - - - - -], an abnormality has occurred in the function.
Contact your Shimadzu service representative.
1
• When the dose area product meter (option) is installed, the calculated dose
display function is not available.

1 Basic Operation
* • Pressing the (cassette radiography mode button) will not switch the mode from
cassette radiography to DR radiography.
Select a radiography mode from the DR system to switch the mode from cassette
radiography to DR radiography. Once done, the corresponding APR is selected and the
radiography parameters are changed to those registered in that program.
• When an APR with DR long-time radiography is selected, the (DR long-time
radiography button) will be illuminated on the X-ray control panel.
* • If an X-ray is not radiated within 30 seconds after the radiography preparation is finished,
the preparation will be automatically cancelled. To prepare for radiography again, release
the hand switch from the state pressed to the first level.
• To keep the collimator lamp from turning ON after radiography preparation is completed,
see "2.1.8 Collimator Lamp Control Setting [LAP]" P.2-10.
• Confirm that the DR system is READY before attempting radiography. Attempting
radiography before the DR system is ready will result in error [F68] and prevent
radiography. If error [F68] appears, cancel the error by confirming the READY indicator on
the DR system touch panel monitor and then pressing (user settings button).
5 After confirming the DR system READY indicator, press the hand switch to
the second level (X-ray exposure).
Pressing the button starts X-ray exposure.
