Student 6: Past Perfect Tense

Student 7: Future Perfect Tense

Very good students! Therefore, we have 3

Tenses in Perfect Tense of verbs. Now, let’s
talk about the Present Perfect Tense first.

Present Perfect Tense

- Is expressed by using has or have plus
the past participle form of the verb.

Example:

Have frozen has stolen

Have taken has awaken
Have stated has brought
Have grown has lost

Now let us determine how to use the Has and

Have in a sentence.

Have denotes an action which happened at

some indefinite time in the past.

Example: I have taken the course.

How about has. Has denotes the action which

started in the past and is still continuing up to
the present.

Example:

Mr. Suarez has taught in the University since

1985.

Meg has maintained her rank in the honor roll

since first year.

Past Perfect Tense

- Is expressed by using had plus the past
participle form of the verb.
- It is used to express an action which
happened before another past action.
Example:

Had given had driven had drawn

had taught

Ex: We had arrived at the station before the

train left.

Future Perfect Tense
