Theory
Complex sentence
Structure A complex sentence is made up of an independent clause and one or more
subordinate clause.
Examples There will be less traffic congestion when the city extends the subway lines.

Subordinating conjunctions
Conjunction Use Example

Relative clauses

Compound-complex sentence
Structure A compound-complex sentence has two or more independent clauses and
one or more subordinate clauses.
Examples Many people have quit smoking, but others continue the habit
