A Study on Consumer Behaviour Towards Online

Shopping
Abstract :

Since many individuals are busy and have a jumbled schedule, online
purchasing has become quite important in the twenty-first century. In such a
circumstance, internet shopping became the most convenient and appropriate
way of purchasing for them. The Internet has transformed the shopper's retail
system and has swiftly grown into a worldwide market. An online store
evokes the actual act of purchasing goods. The assumption of classical model
behaviour was used in this work. The Internet has changed the way customers buy
goods and services. At the same time, many businesses have begun to use the
Internet with the goal of lowering marketing costs and, as a result, lowering the
price of their products and services in order to remain competitive. Companies also
utilize the Internet to link and broadcast data in order to sell products online,
collect feedback from customers, and perform satisfaction surveys with
customers. Customers utilize the Internet not just to buy products online, but
also to compare prices, products, features, and after-sales and support assistance
they will receive if they buy from a certain retailer.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY :

This project research helps to find out what are the main factors that affect
consumer behavior towards online shopping. The following are the objectives of
the study;

· To study consumer behaviour towards online shopping.


· To know the factors which affect decision making process of customer while
purchasing the online shopping product.
· To examine whether customer prefer online shopping or offline shopping.
· To identify their preference towards different E-shopping websites and the
features of websites in general.
· To know the problems they face during online shopping.
Introduction :

Due to technological innovations, the traditional way of shopping has become


insufficient for individuals. Individuals now prefer easy ways to reach brands
and stores and it can be said that that 'The Internet has fundamentally changed
customer's notions of convenience, speed, price, product information and
service. As a result, it has given marketers a whole new way to create value for
customers and build relationships with them 'E-commerce provides consumers
more choices, more information and more ways to buy. Moreover, e-commerce
will remain as a medium to sell products, services and content over the internet.
As a result individuals can buy or sell anything, 'at anytime, from anywhere
through online shopping'.

ONLINE SHOPPING AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOR


With the emergence of the Internet, Internet-based electronic commerce
developed and this environment provide individuals to reach information about
products and services easily. Moreover, commercial organizations have moved
to incorporate the World Wide Web into their promotional campaigns, and by
offering the facility of online purchasing and like many other innovations
'online shopping' has become a part of our lives. Furthermore, the Internet
business have created more competitive environment, understanding features of
online shoppers' behaviors have been more important. Moreover, it should be
analyzed by online sellers that 'why some still prefer not to buy online’.
perceived characteristics of the web sale channel which include risk, advantage,
online shopping experience, service quality, trust; second category is web site
and product characteristics which are risk reduction measures, web site features
and product characteristics; and the last category clarified by authors is
consumer characteristics. Consumer characteristics are driven by various types
of features. Consumer shopping orientations, demographic variables, computer,
internet knowledge and usage, consumer innovativeness and psychological
variables.
