BUST248 and ECO248- Statistics 2 (Spring-2023)

Dr. Hajar Farnoudkia

Hajar.farnoudkia@gmail.com

What is the difference between Statistics 1 and Statistics 2?

Statistics 2 course is a continuation of the Statistics 1 course opened in the previous

semester. The aim of the course is to build statistical analysis methods on the basis of
statistics and probability topics covered in the first semester. Unlike the last lesson,
theoretical statistics and probability will be replaced mainly by applied statistics. In
summary, in this course, you will learn how to use statistics for different types of
research questions and patterns, and for different types of variables, based on what
you learned last semester.

The aims of this lesson

Based on the explanations above, the aim of this course is;

1. To provide the students with the knowledge and skills to collect, analyze and
interpret data while solving scientific and practical problems that the students will
encounter in their fields.
2. To gain the knowledge of which kind of research question can be answered by which
statistical method.

Evaluating the learning level

Midterm Exam: You will take a classic midterm exam on the first week of April, 2023.
Final exam: It will cover the topics after the midterm exam.

The Expectations from the Student who have taken Statistics 2 Course

1. Lessons will be held face-to-face and online simultaneously due to the earthquake
catastrophe.
2. During the lesson, questions will be asked. It is very normal for you not to know. My
