OPTIONS TO INCLUDE INFANTRY

The following options to include infantry are available to the Hungarian army. The minimums
indicated apply if ANY of these infantry options are included in the army, i.e. if 1 unit of archers is
included then the army must also include at least 2 units of spearmen and 1 of skirmishers per 1000
points.

OPTIONS TO INCLUDE CROATS

The following options to include Croats are available to the Hungarian army. Following the absorption
of Croatia into Hungary in 1102 the Croats provided good quality troops to the Crown.  If Croats are
used, they must be deployed together as one or more adjacent touching brigades at the start of the
game (i.e.in a single battle).  Minimums only apply if any Croats are used.

Gentry. Lesser nobility, armed with a mixture of bows, spears and lances.

Horse Archers.  Magyar or Cuman light cavalry whose main tactic was to rush at the enemy
screaming blood curdling war cries but who rarely charged home.

Szeklers. Remnant Hun or Avar tribesman with a reputation for ferocity.

Spearmen. Slav or other subject infantry, armed mainly with long spears.

Archers. Slav or other subject infantry in massed formations armed with bows.

Serbs/Vlachs. Serbian or Wallachian auxiliaries acting as light infantry.

Skirmishers. Slav or other subject infantry armed with bows or javelins operating as skirmishers.

Croat Cavalry. Hard charging Croat gentry.

Croat Archers. Bow armed skirmishers.

Croat Axemen.  The Croat axemen seem to have inspired fear into their enemies, so have been given
4 attacks.
