THE WHITE HOUSE

The place of greatest snuggle, rest and peace is our home. Frequently, we
see written in overall: “home sweet home” Yes… It’s supposed to be the place
in which we feel happy.

One of the landmarks in United States is the White House, which is

located in Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC. The White House is where
the President and First Family of the United States live and work — but it’s also
the People’s House, where we hope all Americans feel a sense of inclusion and
belonging.  It’s also a museum of American history—and a place where that history
continues to unfold every day. The White House has been occupied by every president since
John Adams, and the history of this building extends far beyond the construction of its walls.

The Grounds

Camp David : it is the president’s retreat located in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick
County, Maryland.

Air Force One : any aircraft carrying the president.

The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is located next to the West Wing and houses the
majority of offices for White House staff.

History

It was the place where all North American presidents live except George Washington,
because when his government finished in 1797 the building was not ready to live, this
happens only in 1800. Originally the building was yellow and the first president to live there
was John Adams. When James Madison was in office British soldiers captured and burned the
building during the War of 1812. Rebuilding was completed in 1817, and President James
Monroe and his family allowed them to move into the building, which was now painted white
as it is today. In 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt designated the mansion's nickname as
his official name, White House.
