Motivation
Dora the Explorer: Lakbay-Aral
Last two weeks our Division in partnership with the City of Balanga conducted a Lakbay-Aral in order
to educate the learners and also to promote the beautiful destination here in Balanga and also in our
beautifl province of Bataan.Sad to say only few of your classmate joined the activity but, don’t worry
and don’t be sad because for sure your turn will come. We will make sure that you will be joining the
next activity that our division and our city offers. Okay? Great.
Going back, since some of you did not able to experience the feels of Lakbay-Aral, we will bring
Lakbay-Aral to you. Who’s excited? That’s amazing!!!

We a have special tour guide, are you familiar with her?

Who is she? That’s right!!!!
She is Dora (Dora Theme Song will be played)
B. Establishing a purpose for the Presentation
lesson Carousel Brainstorming
The pupils will roam around the classroom with four stations. Each station includes the iteneraries of
the Lakbay-Aral such as: COB Wetland and Nature park, Bataan World War II Museum, The Bunker
and Bataan Tourism Park. They will be given 2 minutes on each stations. The group will be
designated per station, then when the music stops they will go to another station until they visit all of
them. After the tour the learners will go back to their seat together with respective groups

Objectives
For todays lesson we will find the elapse time in minutes and in seconds.
At the end of the lesson you are expected to:
1. Finds the elapsed time in minutes and seconds
2. Uses number line in finding elapsed time in minutes and seconds

Things to do during class discussion

1. Seat Properly
2. Listen Carefully
3. Speak when needed
4. Raise your hand if you want to answer
5. Ask questions for clarifications
6. Be Active/ Participate
7. Smile and enjoy

Unlocking of Difficulties
Elapsed Time is the time taken by an event to occur between the start of the time and the end of the
time.
1 hour is equivalent to 60 minutes.
1 minute is equivalent to 60 seconds.

Undersrtood? Very Good!!!

C. Presenting examples/instances Discussion
of the new lesson Let’s go back to our Lakbay-Aral
How’s the tour?
What are the things you learn?
Did you have fun?

(The teacher will present the slides for discussion)

Before we proceed to the discussion let’s have first an Energy Check to see if you are ready to learn
something new today.
MATH ready na ba kayo?
MATH ready na!!!

(Application of Carousel Brainstorming)

Present the Scenario in Lakbay-Aral
Let’s take a look at this itinerary
What are the things that can be seen from this?

VALUING: What time should you arrive at the school?

Do you always come on time?
How important is time?
What can you do as a student to give importance to time?
D. Discussing new concepts and This is the time we’re going to show the elapsed time using a Number Line.

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Board Work (Individual Activity)
Formative Assessment) The teacher will have an Energy Check before answering the board work.
Activity #2
Paste the elapsed time, time started or time ended cut outs to its corresponding number line.

ELAPSED
TIME: 40 sec.

TIME ENDED:
50 sec.

TIME STARTED:
5:35 PM

ELAPSED
TIME: 10 mins.

TIME ENDED:
11:30am.

Activity #3
Plot the following data to the number line then find the elapsed time.
Start time End Time Elapsed Time
20s 40s 40 seconds
5:35am 6:00am 25 mins.
3:55pm 4:30pm 35 mins.

GROUP ACTIVITY
Each group will be given an envelope which contain the task assigned to them.
Before doing the activity the pupils will state the different rules in conducting a group activity.
Group 1- Find the elapsed time with the used of number line.
Group 2- Color the elapsed time covered in the clock
Group 3- Solve the elapsed time of Amazing Mouse Race to declare the winner
Group 4- Create a schedule of your morning routine from waking up, up to going to school, then find
the elapsed time between your morning activities.
After presenting their output the class will do the GOOD JOB CLAP.
G. Finding practical applications Real-life Application: What if you can stop or freeze time? What will you do?
of concepts and skills in daily (Answers will depend on the learners )
living
H. Making generalizations and Remember
abstractions about the lesson  Elapsed Time is the time taken by an event to occur between the start of the time and the
end of the time.
 We can find elapsed time using the number line or by subtraction

Excellent!!

Do you have any questions or clarification? Sure?

Great, Let’s have our evaluation
I. Evaluating learning

KEY TO CORRECTION:
1. A, 2.A, 3.B, 4.D, 5. C

The teacher will get the frequency of scores.

J. Assignment Answer Additional Activity on your Learning Activity Sheet on page 18.
K. Wrap it Up. DID YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW TODAY?
DID YOU HAVE FUN?
Good to hear, okay then see you on our next class.
