What is suicide?
Suicide means ending your own life. It
is sometimes a way for people to
escape pain or suffering. Suicide is the
act of intentionally causing one's own
death. Mental disorders, physical
disorders, and substance abuse are risk
factors. Some suicides are impulsive
acts due to stress, relationship
problems, or harassment and bullying.

Dejai Baptiste is an 11-year-old who dies from
suicide. He apparently killed himself due to
various family problems. His family says Dejai was
apprehended in 2014, after which, his parents
spiraled deep into addiction. Within a year his
mother Dawns Baptiste was raped and
murdered. He was orphaned in 2021 when his
dad died of an overdose

BEacuse every year 703 000 people take their own life and
there are many more people who attempt suicide. Every
suicide is a tragedy that affects families, communities, and
entire countries and has long-lasting effects on the people
left behind. Suicide occurs throughout the lifespan and is
one of the leading cause of death throughout the years
that's why it has to be talked about.

Why most teenagers commit suicide?
Because most teens interviewed after making a suicide attempt say
that they did it because they were trying to escape from a situation
that seemed impossible to deal with or to get relief from really bad
thoughts or feelings. They didn't want to die as much as they wanted to
escape from what was going on. And at that particular moment dying
seemed like the only way out. Some people who end their lives or
attempt suicide might be trying to escape feelings of rejection, hurt, or
loss. Others might feel angry, ashamed, or guilty about something.
Some people may be worried about disappointing friends or family
members. And some may feel unwanted, unloved, victimized, or like
they're a burden to others.
